W Koh Samui

This property would have been outstanding when it was opened 15 years ago but it feels very run down, lacking in investment and certainly not befitting of its status / price point. I find it very bizarre that none of the numerous recent reviews mention this, as it is one of the most run down hotels we have ever stayed at! Positives: The staff are exceptional. Really friendly, engaged and can’t do enough for you. All wanted to know (and remember) your name, to personalise every interaction. The view from the room / lobby is outstanding - one of the best views we had in all of Koh Samui, looking out to Koh Phangan. The food is excellent at all venues. Negatives: The hotel, especially the room, is very run down and dilapidated. It feels like there has been no investment in the last 15 years at all. It would be poor for a 2-3 star motel, let alone a supposed 5 star property. The beach feels unloved - not befitting of a five star resort. Also, the sand is very coarse compared to other beaches on the island. There is little atmosphere. W hotels are supposed to have an electric, party atmosphere - it felt flat and quiet. Appreciate that it wasn’t peak season, but still expected more. We ended up getting a taxi to Coco Tam’s every night, which was busy and fun. Other than the fire show, there is nothing to do of an evening. Nothing within the vicinity meant you had to get a taxi to go out every time. The main pool was closed, so couldn’t even sit there. The hotel has great potential to be excellent again, but would not stay here again until it has a comprehensive refurbishment.

The best hotel in koh samui. Heaven on earth. My experience was perfect the staff is amazing and very kind, best service ever . I hope you meet Toni he is the best person ever so kind and funny, made our experience perfect Very recommended.

Cookie was amazing, she attended to all our needs. Also, the property is just fab. Would definitely recommend it and I am going to come back

Our stay at W Koh Samui was truly exceptional. We enjoyed every moment. The team was unbelievably friendly, attentive and warm, which made the whole experience even more special for us. Luxury hotel with peaceful atmosphere. The team is extraordinary wonderful, smiling and helpful. I would like to send my appreciation and love to all the team, especially Aoffy, Tony, Tik, Leo and Sud. It wouldn’t be the same without these guys.
