What an amazing place to spend any evening with those you love. We booked two of the sunken cocoon for an evening of good food and a few drinks and we were not disappointed. We felt like we were floating while looking out to see and Koh Phangan as the night depended on us. After great food we were treat to an amazing fire show, showcases such talent from the 3 performers. Rounding the evening off with the ability to have photos taken with the fire performers and some even being given the opportunity to hold and do their own performances with the fire sticks. Great evening great place and if or when next in Samui we'll worth experiencing for yourself. Thank you to all the wonderful staff.

Ambassador Member so expectations are high. You have to assess the place based on cost as well and costs are materially higher than Bangkok so you need to measure it against these standards. As an observation, as a Marriott BONVOY Ambassador Member - no participation in any automatic upgrade and this seems to be becoming more of a feature now - you have to fight for any upgrades even though by definition your their best customer but I ended up having to pay for an upgrade, their argument is that all rooms are suites with a pool. Sorry - I don’t buy that and we ended up having to pay around another £500 for an upgrade. So what did that get us - a nice hilltop Ocean view suite but…….a tired room, in need of significant work, no sun as it faces the sea but towards the North. Because no material sun the pool was cold. Not unusable but distinctly chilly. A distinct smell from the shower but it passed. Another feature of the resort - old aircon plants everywhere with a lot of noise. Not even peaceful to sit out as all you can hear around you are aircon plants. You can see them outside every room and they are inefficient and noisy. Room servicing was very good. The Beach area. It is NOT PRIVATE. It’s a nice spot but eventually it’s filled with non hotel members looking for a good time. A lot of trash on the beach. The Hotel is mandated I’m sure to allow a path through for the public and Samui is a back packers dream and they don’t give two figs about the environment. I ended up picking trash up myself. Positives - NAMU the Japanese restaurant was excellent. Kitchen - evening Al La Carte. A disaster. Menu way too big and it suffers. Food was very slow in coming and didnt in any way taste fresh probably due to the size of the menu. My wife’s Spaghetti Bolognese was embarrassingly small and again - you then have to wait 5 minutes for a jar of Parmesan. It needs to come with the dish. Staff as you’d expect - all good. Breakfast buffet was in particular very good. So why that didn’t transpose into a good evening meal in the same place was a mystery. The WW team. Excellent at organizing a car hire for us, external bookings, airport transfers and buggies in the resort as you need them. Value for money. It’s marginal. Koh Samui is currently the in place but we found it overcrowded and suffering from over tourism. Weed shops everywhere reflecting the crowd that they want on the Island. Marriott also need to get a grip on their stock. We broadly found the far east hotels tired on what was a long trip. This was always going to be our first and last trip to Koh Samui. We tried it. We were disappointed, more so the island rather than the Hotel. It’s more of a 3.5 out of 5 - too much renovation needed, expensive for a lack of exclusivity with the Public Beach and no real benefit from being an ambassador member (meals and drinks discounted but we only ate twice in the resort).

Absolutely sensational experience for my birthday celebration today. Enjoyed the ‘Healthy Brunch’ and the quality, presentation and service of the food was exceptional. By far the best we have on Samui in 6 months. The management and staff looked after us beautifully and even made me a small cake. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a breathtaking view and delicious, great value experience.

From the minute you arrive at the W Retreat Koh Samui you are met with the Wow factor. The view from the lobby is absolutely breathtaking!! The pool villas were modern, beautifully decorated & very private and had direct access to the beach. Staff were very friendly & attentive. Had the most incredible meal at Namu. Thank you to the amazing chefs who just created something special for me based on what I felt like - no menu required.

This is definitely a resort with wow factors in many ways. Besides the breathtaking view of Gulf of Thailand and the Maenam Beach, the staffs left me a nice impression as well, General Manager Nick himself gave us a personal tour introduction at the beginning which led to a wonderful stay for us at W Retreat Koh Samui. Worth coming again and again!
