Top tier hotel let down by mid-tier service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Welcome experience, the actual room, Hala restaurant and housekeeping were all great (though the front desk kept us waiting half an hour after check in time for our room). However, for a hotel of this level, the service at the market and from the valet station at departure were unacceptable - the people at the market were just plain unfriendly on multiple occasions, while the front desk staff didn't offer to help store my bags after checking out, and the valet staff were smirking about something when I dropped off my luggage with them. I'd ordinarily have shrugged it off, but when I came to pick up with my ticket, they told me to go get my bags myself, from an unattended room. That seems like both a security and service failure. At this level of hotel, everything should be flawless, and it just wasn't.

Incredible beach and golf resort

Incredible trip. Everything was flawless from the complementary room upgrade to the beach to the golf to the food. Plan to come back to Mauna Lani every time I visit Hawaii. Would give 6 stars if I could!

Loved it!

Incredible property! Fantastic snorkeling right off main beach, GREAT activities including an amazing experience on sunrise canoe paddle, and beautiful grounds. Favorite place in Hawaii after many stays across the islands.

super nice resort, top of the list

I am glad we discovered this resort; it's a hidden gem. It is now my favorite. I like the soft sand on the beach (most beaches in Big Island are rocky or has sharp shells, this beach has soft powdery sand. Excellent service, good food. Nice amenities.Worth the price, My daughters want to come back every year.
