Classic Luxury at The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

After a longer journey through Vietnam, it was finally time to visit Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur. We chose to stay at The Ritz-Carlton. The level of service is exceptional – exactly where you’d expect Ritz to be. Perfect location. Classic, elegant, and unmistakably Ritz. A great welcome, wonderful turndown service, and fantastic in-room dining. Since this is The Ritz, it’s fair to be a bit critical as well. I do miss wider restaurant options at the hotel. They have Li Yen (which I’ve reviewed separately), but beyond that the selection is very limited. You should be prepared to dine outside the hotel when staying here. Other than that, nothing to fault whatsoever. Magical Ritz!

Worst hotel, doesn't live up to the name

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

This hotel is counting on the name and it certainly does not live up to it .We arrived at 17.00hrs and were told our room was not ready!!!!. after about 20 min we were given the keys. The room was on the 9th floor which we thought a little low as we had booked a delux executive room with lounge access. At all the hotels we have stayed it these rooms are usually on higher floors. The room was like a box looking onto a concerete wall from the building next door.We went stright back down and asked for a change. We were told there was none avaiable so we asked to see a manager.Ater waiting another 30 min.we were asked if we would like a drink and we could go into the lounge. We asked for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc wine and were told the only wine wine they had was an Argentine one. When it arrived it was more amber than white and tasted just horrible. There was a limited choice of soft drinks and the only beer were tins of a budget brand ,This is a 5 star hotel!!!!# We also noticed during our stay other guests ordered the wine and always left it After another hour the manager arrived and my husband went to see another room this was better with a better view but not really up to the standard we were expecting. The linen and towels were clean so we accepted it. 10 min later we recived 2 glasses of Sauvignon Blanc and a cheese board with a note.Suddenly they had found some. The next morning we tried the main breakfast room it was awful, poor choice of fruit and the bread was dry and no taste, toasting it was no better. The following day we went to the lounge and had a similar choice limited fruit, only bread for toast and the eggs cooked at the time were still cold from collecting them and going to a table. The lounge at night didn't get much better but after much explaining they managed to find another bottle of wine we then said we have 5 more days so we hope there would be more.On the last 2 days they found 3 bottles and said they would serve only us with these. The food was very repetitive but how food in ceramic dishescould be cold. On opening the soup you would expect some steam but no. I don't know how they couldn't serve hot food. The staff in the loung tried to be over friendly as if they were waiting for tips it was very unnerving.Staff should be pleasant but also give a service without trying for tips. We noticed they tried it with all the new guests. The executive entrance is bland and to get a taxi is another long wait. The stay was a complete waste of time and money in the hotel. We did find a resturant just around the corner attached to a another big brand hotel. It was a breath of fresh air. The food was great and always hot, and the choice of beer and wine so different. It was also very good value. At least we able to eat and drink. I hope no other guests have this experience, When we left the reception theysaid hope to see you again, this is one hotel i would certainly not return t.

Elegant … and fabulous breakfast

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Low key, elegant hotel. Smiling and professional staff at all levels within the hotel. Room was quiet, extremely comfortable and sparklingly clean but the best element of this hotel was the breakfast. Superb.

A let down....

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Checked out early - we had high expectations given the RC brand but were left disappointed. The hotel is old and tired, and beds very hard and uncomfortable although the hotel did bring a mattress topper which helped a little. In November 2025 there was maintenance work underway which impacted ability to enjoy the adult pool so be aware There are better places to stay.

The hotel itself is lovely with a good location. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Rooms are spacious and well furnished. The bathroom is luxury.
