Mkuze Falls Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
A place of unspoiled pleasures and simple delights, the Mkuze Falls Private Game Reserve is first and foremost a celebration of nature. This hospitable retreat is situated in the heart of South Africa's peaceful and historic Zululand, between Kruger National Park and the Zululand Coast. In this breathtaking region of riverine, wetland, lowveld, bushveld and montane grassland ecosystems, the landscape graciously hosts creature comforts. Stay in either the Falls Lodge, Safari Suite or Tented Lodge, providing an authentic bush camp experience.
Although resort pleasures are bountiful - from the sparkling pool to the traditional South African cuisine - it is wildlife that plays a starring role. The lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant share their surroundings with cheetah, hippo and nearly 400 species of resident birds, including the spectacular Purple-crested Lourie. Along with unforgettable game drives, you are also invited to explore the nearby historical Zululand Battlefields, fish on Pongolapoort Dam and enjoy evening entertainment provided by traditional Zulu dancers.

Reviews for Mkuze Falls Private Game Reserve
The Lodge accommodation is situated above the Mkuze Falls .. in the dry season, there is no water going over the fall, but made up for by animal sightings from your room or from the breakfast veranda. The rooms are beautifully decorated, in an African glamping style .. complete with outside shower if you're feeling brave enough, 4 poster bed with mosquito nets. Very comfortable, but feels authentic. The food is hearty and plentiful and the bar is a wonder place to sit and while away the time between drives. The staff are great and most helpful, the reserve and the game drives with a spotter are wonderful. Stayed here twice and seen the most wonderful array of african animals including lions, rhino, elephants, hippos and cheetahs, I will return

It's been a dream to go on safari and Mkuze definitely delivered on that dream. The accommodation was perfect, cleaned 3 times a day and absolutely spotless. The food was delicious, there is no way you could go hungry. The Chakkalaka beans at breakfast were amazing. We went on 2, three hour drives per day with Jabulani as our Ranger and Melusi as our Spotter. Both were excellent, extremely professional and seemed determined in finding us exactly what we wanted to see. They were successful on every drive. There is no doubt that we will be returning to Mkuze falls. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.
Our second annual trip and just as amazing as before. Staff and hostesses are just amazing to be around. The environment is friendly, luxurious and just perfectly on point, game drives are amazing and the food and beverage services are lovely. All in all a great place for a life weary couple to get away from it all and recharge!
Good place to visit. Very high quality game viewing with game ranger. Enchanting bush view right from your unit. We enjoyed the food. Service is good overall. Rooms are comfortable, but bathrooms perhaps are in need of an upgrade. Overall we had a great stay, with great service from the staff.

121 Species seen in 3 days thanks to the wonderful ranger Jabulani who has the patience of Job! He is a considerate and knowledgeable guide, stopping at just the right spot and not moving off until everyone has had their fill. Although we were mainly interested in birds we saw plenty of game including wonderful sightings of cheetah, lions, rhino, buffalo and lots of elephant. Unfortunately the leopards were all hiding but other guests had seen them the night before we arrived. The rooms and public areas are all furnished beautifully and the beds are very comfortable. We loved the gorgeous hot shower on our return from the morning drive after a really slap up breakfast. The lodge staff and barman were attentive and pleasant. We seemed to eat all day long and our scale literally groaned when we returned home. Really nice snacks on the morning and evening game drives and 3 well prepared meals complimented by a lovely wine list. I feel a need to correct an impression a previous review gave about the lunch menu. It is true that the lunch menu is the same every day but there are three pages from which to make your choice and unless you spend more than a fortnight at the lodge you won't have to have the same meal twice. Well done guys - We will be back in the summer!
