Overall, near perfect.
Large room, well appointed, great bathroom. Great view. Comfortable beds. Great lobby service / concierge. Great breakfast. Perfect location above the train station. Easy to find. I wish the bathroom didn't have a motion-sensor light - if you visit the bathroom at night, the bright light comes on and you can't turn it off. Also, the bathroom shower is of the type that soaks the entire room - no shower curtain, etc.

A beautiful hotel located right at the Kyoto train station. Comfortable, spacious rooms, great views, and easy access to train, bus, and subway connections. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Restaurants in the hotel and ready access to a variety of restaurants in the train station and neighboring streets.

If in doubt, book it
I haven't been in Kyoto much, but this is for sure my fave hotel, especially the junior suite which I had twice, but for two days, I had the cheapest room category and it was fine as well, although obviously smaller, more limited, no view and another kind of bathroom. The location is unbeatable, not only for the railways but also subway and buses - this is THE place to explore Kyoto. And the train station with its shops is so convenient otherwise as well! Very comfy bed, all amenities great. The buffet breakfast was a minus, too crowded and the selection not really convincing, but never mind. The pool is great, and yes it costs 1100 and shouldn't, but then it was mercifully empty and allowed for great lap swimming, and there's a nice jacuzzi too. And obv worth the price in towels and amenities. So I rather pay 1100 for the emptiness - think of it as a business class feature. The Japanese restaurant (or one of them, the one that also serves breakfast) was excellent; also had one dinner here; no complaints. Staff, especially reception staff, decidedly mixed - from one brilliant young man who really helped me out in a pinch to some ladies without English or competence who could not handle the bills. This is an expensive place, but I'd say it's worth the money, even on the expensive weekends. If in doubt, go for it.

Perfect Location
The Hotel is located inside Kyoto Station and couldn't be more perfect - access to restaurants, shopping, transit and very walkable this a perfect location in Kyoto. The hotel itself has everything you come to expect from a hotel of this class in Japan- our room on the smaller side (by North American standards) was excellent, and kept spotlessly clean, hotel staff are helpful and breakfasts were very good. Definitely would stay at this hotel again.

Great location and excellent service
We love the location of this hotel. It’s located beside the kyoto station which makes it convenient for us to travel around. Staff in hotel are excellent. Very helpful and friendly. We love our room located at the 15th floor. The room was surprisingly spacious with both a bath and a shower area. The twin beds are comfortable. We were provided with complete amenities (fridge, coffeemaker, water kettle, toiletries, dryer, etc. ). Special mention goes to the cleaning staff of our room who made sure that our room was always clean and we always had enough water, tea, towels, stationeries, etc. Lots of restaurants and shops around the area. Definitely recommend this hotel in Kyoto.
