About the Hotel

Located in the charming community of La Jolla, just minutes from Torrey Pines Golf Course and 14 miles north of San Diego, Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa is a stylish retreat reminiscent of an early California ranch estate. The property - listed on Condé Nast Traveler's coveted Gold List and Hot List - pays homage to its rich history by emulating and utilizing materials from the original 1880s equestrian compound. The business center resembles the original caretaker's cottage, the intimate hotel lobby was created from the old farmhouse, and Mustangs & Burros, the hotel's rustic rancho-style bar, was inspired by the tack room. Even the restaurants reflect the old spirit in their design, menu concepts and gracious service.

Reviews for Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa

Spa day with pool bar food.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

My husband booked me a spa day at the hotel and I needed something to eat. The pool and bar are super close. The staff is very friendly. I sat at the bar and was quickly greeted with a smile and warm welcome. I asked for a tropical drink and the bartender, Phil, got to work. He brought over a black’s beach. It is so tasty and looks cool with the black salt rim. This definitely elevated my experience and helped me relax.

Nice location, Terrible customer service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I was notified by trip advisor that my previous post had been deleted: Essentially the customer service that others have complained about in the past... Very accurate. This was my review: My wife and I visited Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa to gather information for our upcoming wedding. While the grounds are beautiful, the customer service we received was incredibly disappointing. We were directed to Natalie Plush, the "Sales and Catering Coordinator", hoping to get basic details on venues, pricing, and availability. Instead, we felt completely dismissed. I happened to be dressed casually that day, and it was obvious she judged me as inadequate based strictly on my wardrobe. While Natalie Plush was judging my shorts, it was obvious she failed to comprehend even people in flip-flops can work in tech sales, and have sufficient income to pay for a lavish, high-budget wedding. Her superficial evaluation cost her property (what I would consider) a massive booking. She seemed entirely uninterested in helping us or answering our questions. Ms. Plush made us feel like our presence was an inconvenience to her day rather than an opportunity for the business she represents. We left with almost no helpful information and a very negative impression of how this resort treats prospective couples. Planning a luxury wedding when traveling from out of town is demanding enough, and you expect a premium venue to offer a service regardless of what a client is wearing. Unfortunately, our interaction completely ruined the appeal of this property for our special day. We will be taking our wedding and our substantial budget elsewhere to a resort that understands true hospitality.

A true jewel in La Jolla.

It was a very nice location, weather cooperated and the team there was fantastic. Looking forward to the next time we could get away and spend a few days at Estancia.

Very nice resort but pricey!

Lovely property; be prepared for a large bill though! The grounds are lushly landscaped and offer lots of great places to gather with friends or sit quietly and read. Our room was comfortable but not very large. Breakfast was delicious, and Karina was our very attentive and friendly server. Self parking is $47 a night! In a nutshell, I would return but only if it was a splurge trip.
