Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa in La Jolla, California

Located in the charming community of La Jolla, just minutes from Torrey Pines Golf Course and 14 miles north of San Diego, Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa is a stylish retreat reminiscent of an early California ranch estate. The property - listed on Cond Nast Traveler's coveted Gold List and Hot List - pays homage to its rich history by emulating and utilizing materials from the original 1880s equestrian compound. The business center resembles the original caretaker's cottage, the intimate hotel lobby was created from the old farmhouse, and Mustangs & Burros, the hotel's rustic rancho-style bar, was inspired by the tack room. Even the restaurants reflect the old spirit in their design, menu concepts and gracious service.

This coastal hideaway is set on nearly ten tree-laden acres coupled with fragrant ground coverings such as rosemary and sage. The hotel houses a collection of freestanding Spanish buildings coupled with hidden courtyards and trailing pathways. Equestrian-style doors and sky-lit windows add a light and airy feeling to the plush guest rooms. Slip into the fitness room for an early morning workout, spend the afternoon draped across a massage table or do a little celebrating sideways at the hotel's very own wine bar. Dips in the cabana-flanked pool prove to be refreshing day or night. Venture off property to discover the pounding surf, verdant fairways, hidden hiking trails and protected wetlands. If you are more partial to Prada than park lands, head to the enchanting village area to prowl the designer shops and eateries.

We had the best green chilaquiles ever at the Adobe Restaurant by Dina. Lisa was very attentive and made sure we had what we needed. Looking forward to their lunch and dinner menu on our next trip there. The place looked relaxing and we hope to have more time to stay a night or two.

Estancia La Jolla is a lovely place to stay. It has an old world hacienda feel. The grounds are just exquisite with lots of well kept greenery and little hidden areas to sit and relax. Every time I’m here, there’s a wedding going on which is no surprise because it’s a truly beautiful venue. It’s also a great place to bring your dog. We brought our little daschund and it was perfect. There are designated grass areas for dogs and doggy bags for clean up provided. But I’ve never seen loud dogs or any trace of them leaving a mess on the grounds. The pool area is very inviting with lots of shade and plenty of lounge chairs. There are really nice cabanas also. I’m picky about pool areas and this is a nice one. The main restaurant has some of the best Mexican food in San Diego. It’s gourmet Mexican with traditional fare and also healthier options. The staff here is very friendly and nice. I’ve stayed here three times and I look forward to coming back again because it never disappoints!

Lovely retreat, feels homely and family run. Rooms are spacious and clean. The added bonus is the balcony and courtyard views. This is the third time I have stayed there and will be back at the end of the month. The hotel has a large area for meetings and well equipped gym. The pool, which I only discovered during my last visit is spacious and 'dreamy' See you soon!

This is the second time I've stayed @ Estancia and couldn't be happier with the hotel and service. The property grounds were immaculate and rooms were tastefully decorated and cozy. From check-in to daily interactions with valet attendants and cafe employees, my wife and I felt welcome and were always offered great suggestions on local sites and hotel amenities.

We live within 5 miles of Estancia and have attended many galas, Bat Mitzvahs, fundraisers, and charity events, but rarely have we cone just foe sinner or lunch as a family. Well, today was the day and it was excellent! We sat outside at the more casual eatery and the heaters made the brisk December day feel like a day in May! The decor is southwestern and the food was southwestern in tone and flavor as well. One of my daughters and I enjoyed street tacos; generous portions (3 tacos each) were delicious. My other daughter ordered duck pesole and really enjoyed the flavors. My husband and son-in-law both selected grilled shrimp salads and they both raved over the perfect preparation of the shrimp and the delicious salad as well. We will definitely return for lunch and dinner Parking is available by valet (complimentary-ni charge) or self parking. The ambiance is peaceful and people are very friendly.
