Located in the charming community of La Jolla, just minutes from Torrey Pines Golf Course and 14 miles north of San Diego, Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa is a stylish retreat reminiscent of an early California ranch estate. The property - listed on Condé Nast Traveler's coveted Gold List and Hot List - pays homage to its rich history by emulating and utilizing materials from the original 1880s equestrian compound. The business center resembles the original caretaker's cottage, the intimate hotel lobby was created from the old farmhouse, and Mustangs & Burros, the hotel's rustic rancho-style bar, was inspired by the tack room. Even the restaurants reflect the old spirit in their design, menu concepts and gracious service.

Stay was absolutely lovely. Greenfinch was delicious and our waitress Karina was kind, polite and attentive. Would absolutely come back.

We are homeowners in the neighboring community and love coming to Greenfinch Restaurant for breakfast and lunch. One of the highlights of every visit is seeing Karina. She is always incredibly professional, kind, and welcoming to our family, especially my mom and our pups. Karina consistently provides exceptional service, pays attention to every detail, and makes us feel genuinely valued as guests. Her warm personality and positive attitude create a wonderful dining experience every time we visit. Greenfinch is fortunate to have someone as dedicated and caring as Karina on their team. We look forward to seeing her whenever we come in and highly recommend both Karina and Greenfinch to anyone looking for outstanding service and a great meal. Honestly everyone from Greenfinch are amazing and courteous.

This is a beautiful hotel and great location. Our bottom level room was very dark and smelled strongly of disinfectant - we had to air it out w/AC on blasting to make it bearable. We got the AAA special for $375 do not recommend as the room was bad. The full price rooms on the top floor with balcony are nice (stayed there last time). Front desk is pleasant but never does anything if you have a complaint (happened last time too). Floor was tacky likely from wax not properly removed. If you have time to get them to move your room and negotiate a better one - we did not as we were moving our son out from UCSD.

The property is beautiful. Meticulous attention to detail of the lawn. Multiple events were held here during our visit. There are 4 restaurants. Only one open for breakfast. (Though there is a store with pastries). Breakfast was great. The pool restaurant was closed when we went to visit. The pool is beautiful. But, go early or you may not have a seat (especially on weekends). You can rent a cabana. However, in our first Cabana the TV didn’t work. In the second cabana, the fan didn’t work. We were told maintenance would fix it. They didn’t. Additionally, the cost vs what you received was NOT worth the cost. The servers were extremely busy and we only saw them once at the cabana. The room is spacious. The bed is comfortable. The shower is wonderful. Good water pressure. Large bathroom. The room has a balcony overlooking the garden. It was a beautiful view. The valet service is top notch. Those guys are the most friendly Employees there. They are helpful, courteous and professional. The servers at the pool were also courteous. Compared to other resorts, I would say the overall service was not as good. Thus, the 4 rating.

My husband & I stayed here for a one-night staycation and had the most amazing time. Of course the property and grounds are extremely beautiful all around, but what really made the visit were the staff. Everyone was so welcoming, even random people we passed in the hallways. Our check in was so smooth and room was ready early when we came at 11! Our pool servers (Andrea & Phil) were so attentive throughout the day - we lounged at the pool for a long time! In the evening we went to the restaurant and Eric was our server, he gave amazing recommendations and was just fun to chat with at our table. I can't wait to be back soon and next time to try the spa! Thank you for a wonderful stay and much needed getaway from regular life :)
