Located in the charming community of La Jolla, just minutes from Torrey Pines Golf Course and 14 miles north of San Diego, Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa is a stylish retreat reminiscent of an early California ranch estate. The property - listed on Condé Nast Traveler's coveted Gold List and Hot List - pays homage to its rich history by emulating and utilizing materials from the original 1880s equestrian compound. The business center resembles the original caretaker's cottage, the intimate hotel lobby was created from the old farmhouse, and Mustangs & Burros, the hotel's rustic rancho-style bar, was inspired by the tack room. Even the restaurants reflect the old spirit in their design, menu concepts and gracious service.

Lovely property; be prepared for a large bill though! The grounds are lushly landscaped and offer lots of great places to gather with friends or sit quietly and read. Our room was comfortable but not very large. Breakfast was delicious, and Karina was our very attentive and friendly server. Self parking is $47 a night! In a nutshell, I would return but only if it was a splurge trip.

My friends and I visited for a staycation, We are local residents and We thought everything was wonderful. The food was very good quality. The servers were all very nice especially Madeline at Greene Finch and Diego by the pool. Service was always with a smile. The avocado toast was great at GreenFinch. We went to Burros and Mustangs and the Mexican food was very good. The chicken Mole was OK but the Lomo was delicious! My car was in valet parking and although not being asked to they charged it for me overnight, which was so considerate. The service from the Bellmen to the front desk was excellent. I do think that there should be a dry sauna and also a cold plunge in the spa would make a big difference. Molly did my massage and she was great. Overall, a very nice stay and we would definitely come again.

Disappointing stay overall in light of how expensive this hotel is. The grounds and reception are nice and well maintained, the amenities like pool and gym are nice as well. The staff was competent. The room however was inadequate. Dark with only one window and needed updating. We were hoping for a romantic, azienda-style boutique hotel and got a large place for corporate outings and impersonal weddings. Overall very expensive for what you get.

Estancia is the perfect location for relaxing or hiking the beautiful Torrey Pines and La Jolla Coast. The staff is incredible here from the moment you drive up.
