Nice Change!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 18 hours ago

Been to the Torrey Pines area many times but wanted to stay somewhere different for this anniversary trip so first time at this property and there were a lot of positives. Pool area including bar and waitstaff were great. Breakfast and staff at Greenfinch were also very good and attentive - especially Karina who seemed to read our minds when we needed coffee and even brought us cups to take to our room before we had a chance to ask! Lobby bar was equally fine with happy hour and nightly entertainment (see separate review for Mustangs and Burros). The grounds are very pretty and well maintained. There were only a couple of hiccups: the first was our initial garden room - it faced a beautiful courtyard but there were no windows otherwise and so room was dark and depressing- went back to front desk and although Lorenzo could not find a complimentary upgrade he did work with me on the price of an upgraded room which made all the difference for this trip (thanks again Lorenzo). The only other point I’ll mention is there were several families at the pool who really didn’t care how loud their kids were or how many times they jumped in the pool. I know this situation can happen at any property but it would have been nice for someone from the hotel to visit and reinforce that some of us were there to relax. Regardless, highly recommend!

Excellent Hospitality and Event Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Our experience at Estancia La Jolla was excellent from start to finish. The staff truly sets this property apart. Everyone was welcoming, attentive, and eager to help, often anticipating needs before they were even asked. It was a pleasure working with such a dedicated team, and their outstanding hospitality played a significant role in the success of our event. We look forward to returning!

Great short getaway for couples.

Wife and I had a wonderful 4 night stay at the Estancia. Overall good value for the price. Pros: - Breakfast weekday at Greenfinch was excellent. Wonderful coffee, good options. For the weekends, they have a buffet option which I felt was overpriced for what was offered. - Grounds were gorgeous. - Room was basic but lovely. Nothing special - but very comfortable and clean. Views into the courtyard were magnificent. - Pool was beautiful and well laid out. Poolside service, drinks, and food were TOP NOTCH. - Gym was good for a quick workout (weights). Was never crowded. Cons: - Poolside could use more chairs/lounges as it got crowded in the afternoon. People started hitting up the pools around 10AM. - Pools could use more cleaning as there were a lot of bugs and some scum in the corners of the pool, and the sauna wasn't as clean. Also poolside could use better sweeping as we saw some bandaids around the pool for multiple days.
