Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa in La Jolla, California
Located in the charming community of La Jolla, just minutes from Torrey Pines Golf Course and 14 miles north of San Diego, Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa is a stylish retreat reminiscent of an early California ranch estate. The property - listed on Condé Nast Traveler's coveted Gold List and Hot List - pays homage to its rich history by emulating and utilizing materials from the original 1880s equestrian compound. The business center resembles the original caretaker's cottage, the intimate hotel lobby was created from the old farmhouse, and Mustangs & Burros, the hotel's rustic rancho-style bar, was inspired by the tack room. Even the restaurants reflect the old spirit in their design, menu concepts and gracious service.
This coastal hideaway is set on nearly ten tree-laden acres coupled with fragrant ground coverings such as rosemary and sage. The hotel houses a collection of freestanding Spanish buildings coupled with hidden courtyards and trailing pathways. Equestrian-style doors and sky-lit windows add a light and airy feeling to the plush guest rooms. Slip into the fitness room for an early morning workout, spend the afternoon draped across a massage table or do a little celebrating sideways at the hotel's very own wine bar. Dips in the cabana-flanked pool prove to be refreshing day or night. Venture off property to discover the pounding surf, verdant fairways, hidden hiking trails and protected wetlands. If you are more partial to Prada than park lands, head to the enchanting village area to prowl the designer shops and eateries.

Reviews for Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa
Room was nice but needed updating, carpet was stained and worn, room was not up to par for the price. My biggest complaint were the added fees. First they wanted to charge for valet parking which I did not use, then they tried to charge $25.00 per day for parking even though I parked on the street .They charged $25.oo per day for "hospitality service fee", which no one would explain what that included.
Spent 2 nights while attending a family wedding. The grounds of the resort are beautiful and well kept. The valet upon arrival immediately offered to charge our electric vehicle. One evening we sat by an outdoor fireplace in one of the restaurants that was most pleasant and the waitress was friendly and helpful. The catering staff went out of their way to accommodate special meals for our family and to provide a catering suite and wait staff to assist us. Somewhat disappointed in our suite, #124, one large room on the ground level, furnishings seemed a bit dated. We could not open our shades to bring some natural light into the room as guests walking by would be able to look in. Also disappointed that it took 3 calls to have room services pick up our breakfast tray, 11 hours later! And housekeeping came too late in the date to accommodate our schedule. (3:30 PM.) All in all the pros did out weigh the cons but as stated there were a few disappointments during our stay.

Stayed in La Jolla for Breeder's Cup weekend. We had two rooms on the ground level facing the courtyard. Found the property and rooms very calming amidst the crazy chaos that is Breeder's Cup. Staff was super friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Had breakfast in the restaurant every morning -- the egg white fritatta was so good, I had it every day (even though the rest of the menu looked amazing as well). Had a late dinner at Mustangs & Burros one night. Highly recommend the vegan chile relleno. and margaritas! Overall a very nice property. I would like to come back and plan a spa weekend.

Exquisite resort/hotel. The staff is remarkably well trained and responsive to every question and need. The hotel rooms are beautiful and well appointed. Great restaurant choices and the meeting/conference facilities are first rate.

We were in room 284 for a meeting onsite. 284 overlooks the courtyard, so was relatively quiet. It had a small balcony that I used for one of my breakfasts. The room is spacious with a king bed. Power on the nightstands was appreciated. The bathroom had a separate commode room. Single sink with some room to park cosmetics, but not overly generous. Excellent lighting. Tub/bath combo with strong jet from shower. Nice bath products. Large lighted closet with adequate hangers. Room was cleaned well by the delightful maid. Room was a little hot at night, but probably user error in managing the thermostat. Onsite restaurant with a delicious southwestern benedict on the veranda. If you want something lighter for breakfast, they have a little coffee shop with egg sandwiches made on site with croissants, muffins etc. There is another restaurant we did not try for dinner as well as a bar/tasting room of one of the local vineyards. Reasonably sized salt water pool with hot tub. Nice lobby with gas fire to warm you :). Beautiful grounds, impeccably groomed. Only disadvantage is you'll need a car or Uber/Lyft to the shopping district of La Jolla. If you are organized and lucky the hotel has a free shuttle. However, I wasn't able to use as I dawdled and it was already booked the time I needed it. But ride share was easy and quick. Price about $10 each way. And what's up with no paper or note pads in the room? I always need to jot something down. The maids didn't have them on their carts, but the desk gave me a pad.
