The lack of investment in this hotel is evident at every level. The staff is ordinary at best and the infrastructure is dated. Wifi inadequate, room a/c old noisy kind, and pool area is downright shabby. Typical of many older classic properties that have little impetus so invest because of lack of competition and prime location. They appear to thrive on groups and weddings at this point. Housekeeping over burdened and not able to turn rooms fast enough during checkouts. If they invested in the rooms as much as the bathrobes, they’d be in a lot better place.

Having an horrendous time here at this very expensive hotel. Here are the highlights: Arrived at 1:30 for a 4pm check in. Very graciously given a key for the pool. Unfortunately there wasn’t a chair to be found and there really wasn’t anywhere to sit bc most of those areas were being utilized by 2 weddings. At first we found 2 chairs in front of a staff entrance then We sat on a bench on the side of the street. Our items were left in a trolly that all had access to. Room was ready at 4:15 which is acceptable However, the AC sounded like we were in tarmac with an airplane. All night. Dripping from shower head, pillows were so over stuffed I had to sleep in folded towels, ironing board was dirty, WiFi is spotty. For this cost, I would not recommend. Our friends are having a similar experience

Yikes. Not what we expected. Let me begin by saying this is NOT a luxury hotel. The hotel is very old and very dated. It’s in dire need of updates. Carpet is worn, stains on lampshades and walls, etc. There were weddings three nights in a row and our room was above the dj…omg…the entire room vibrating until the wedding was over. One of our windows was also next to food service and lots of noise/clanging/voices during the weddings. The smells on our side of the hotel were either of old food/garbage or some kind of sewage? Front desk is ambivalent to kind of everything. The location was nice though. The guys at the pool were also very nice and went above and beyond. Wouldn’t stay here again.

PERFECT place to stay in La Jolla! You can walk to everything! Spectacular setting! We stayed in a villa. Balcony overlooking the ocean. Spacious with the best waterfall shower in my life! Hotel staff couldn’t be nicer or more helpful. The concierge literally ran down the street after us to share more info she forgot! This place was memorable. Highly recommend!

Just had a great vacation! Loved La Valencia Hotel...so nostalgic and very well done! Our room was in the West Wing with two queen beds, down pillows and crisp hi thread count sheets; it was a completely refurbished room that still maintained it's history. The staff, from the moment we pulled up throughout the very end of our stay, was friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. The grounds were impeccable and in a perfect location...on one side is the ocean and the other the village. We would definitely stay there again!
