Best Way to kick off Bridal Celebrations, Poolside at La Valencia!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 16 hours ago

We had the BEST day at the La Valencia pool celebrating our bride-to-be! La Valencia was SO accommodating and helped us reserve cabanas and let us decorate our little poolside home base. We spent the most gorgeous sunny day kicking off the bachelorette festivities and it honestly could not have been a more perfect setting! And a HUGE shoutout to Michael, our waiter (and unofficial photographer!), who truly made the day for us. He was incredibly attentive, helpful, fun, and so accommodating from start to finish. He kept us taken care of all day, and even jumped in to help capture photos of our group. He really went above and beyond and felt like part of the celebration by the end of the day! Cabanas, cocktails, sunshine, our favorite girls, and amazing service — it was the absolute perfect way to kick off the bridal celebrations. Thank you, Michael and La Valencia, for making it such a memorable day! 💕🥂☀️👰🏼‍♀️

A deeply disappointing experience.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 17 hours ago

What a deeply disappointing experience. I was on a business trip and asked my husband to join me, thinking we could have a nice time off-hours, given my trip was to La Jolla. So instead of staying in the (cheaper) hotel my company would pay for, I moved us to La Valencia because I had heard it was great — and of course I paid the difference in the room rate. Well, my goodness, what a bad decision that turned out to be — and one that cost us a LOT of money. Where to begin? Our room had not been updated in, perhaps, 20 years. The room itself was scruffy, needed a paint job, a bathroom door that actually closed, and new furniture. We had to call repeatedly for room cleaning. The restaurant was mediocre. The front desk was not helpful, friendly, or responsive to a request about moving the bill from one credit card to another. There was no sound-proofing between our floor and the one directly above us. In short, I would never stay there again — at any price (to say nothing of the very expensive price we paid). And for what it’s worth: In a lifetime of travel, all over this nation and all around the world, I have never been moved to leave a review of a hotel where I stayed. Until now.

Best shower ever, but you have a of steps to get there.

Wonderful special place. Notes: The shower was the best shower I have ever taken, anywhere. I was in Villa 7. If you are in villas be prepared to climb and decend many steps. Perfect location. Would like a option for breakfast that is a coffee bar area to read the paper with a pastry or toast.

Beautiful view with amazing food and exemplary service

We ate in the Mediterranean Room on a quick stop in La Jolla. We were dressed in casual baseball attire but were greeted warmly. Service was wonderful. We had a gnocchi dish and an amazing Mediterranean soup. The view was excellent

Just had a great vacation! Loved La Valencia Hotel...so nostalgic and very well done! Our room was in the West Wing with two queen beds, down pillows and crisp hi thread count sheets; it was a completely refurbished room that still maintained it's history. The staff, from the moment we pulled up throughout the very end of our stay, was friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. The grounds were impeccable and in a perfect location...on one side is the ocean and the other the village. We would definitely stay there again!
