Spent two nights here before leaving on a National Geographic / Lindblad whale-watching excursion. Very nice facilities, good dinner in Steinbeck's restaurant. Staff went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay.

We recently stayed at the CostaBaja in an ocean view room overlooking the pool area. The Resort was quiet as apparently it is low season in La Paz. This was fine with us as we enjoy a quieter setting and surroundings. CostaBaja fulfilled all of our expectations and more. It is just far enough from town to feel "away" but just a few minutes by car to anything we needed. The room was great, staff were terrific, the beach was wonderful and the surrounding restaurants were all top notch and quite reasonable. The only small critique is that the pool was unheated but honestly this was pretty minor. All in all a terrific stay!

Staff was lovely. Grounds were lovely. We had a superior suite which was extremely large with a huge deck overlooking the marina (even though I had asked for a sea view it was very pleasant). However, we were there for 6 days with the water never getting more than barely luke warm. The shower was an open or wet room concept and water went everywhere, almost into the living room. At one point we couldn't get into our room because the batteries in the key lock died. Lots of other little stuff. Beds were very comfortable and the marina itself had several very good restaurants. The hotel had a shuttle to town and back which was great. The food for the breakfast buffet was barely passable. Dinner at Steinbecks was very good but unfortunately very limited. We are not beef eaters which made even more difficult. The pool was too chilly to swim as it is only heated by the sun and it was rather cool when we got there.

My wife and I recently returned from a tour of the lower Baja including San Jose, San Lucas, La Paz and Todos Santos. We stayed four nights at Costa Baja on the recommendation of a friend. It is located approximately 8 kms north of downtown La Paz and is part of a master planned community of sorts with a marina and related services as well as a golf course. Staff was very friendly and there is a great beach in front of the resort which was largely deserted when we were there (could it be the "Beware of Stingrays" sign?). While we could have relaxed at the resort the whole time, we treated it more as a hub for attractions in the area. There is a free shuttle that takes you to downtown La Paz and back several times a day. We took the shuttle down one morning and made the most of what La Paz had to offer (including the impressive whale museum) and then walked back. Another day we took our rental car up 20 kms to have lunch at El Tecolote Beach and then over to Balandra Beach for the afternoon. Not to be missed. Aside from room service at CostaBaja which was great, we also ate at Steinbeck's which is part of the resort and at a nice Italian restaurant which was part of the marina. Our stay was completely different than the more fast-paced world of Los Cabos and offered great price/quality. Gracias CostaBaja!
