I trailered my Boston Whaler down to Baja and stayed for five nights at Hyatt Place which is next to CostaBaja. I was delighted to find the marina's office and boat ramp was right next door. They let me "dry storage" my boat and SUV there and were so incredibly helpful in every way. The service was amazing and it was so great to be able to launch my boat from there to go and explore Isla Espiritu and the beaches around La Paz!

Nice quiet place, great beds, great housekeeping (twice a day) and staff. Love beach club but not the price to use when staying at hotel for a week. Need a dance club at least once a week or other entertainment at night.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, we had a great time The breakfast buffet was great!! The restaurants in the Hotel were really good and the Sushi place in the Marina was excellent. The only thing missing is that they should have kayaks or SUP for rent at the beach club

This place was recommended to us by a friend. We thought staying there would be a fun way to check out La Paz. When I was setting up the reservation I had spotty cell service but as far as I can tell their web site is pretty user unfriendly and so I booked through booking.com. Overall, it is very pretty resort and the pool is fairly big and warm. Our room was very nice and we enjoyed walking around the compound. There is another pool and club house that is much nicer but you have to pay $15 a day per person to hang out there. This is a fairly new policy and so some staff know that there is a charge and others don't. I really had to laugh when one bartender said "Are you kidding? of course it's included. They can't charge you just to use the pool." We had one dinner at the Steinbeck restaurant which is pricey but really good. They have good seafood but my steak was just perfect. Great service. The other restaurants along the wharf looked pretty good too, especially the sushi place. We had a pretty awful breakfast at the hotel restaurant "Mosaic" and there aren't many other options. We took the shuttle into town the second night and had fun walking around the malecon and eating incredible seafood. La Paz is probably not for everyone but we really liked the vibe and you can't beat the people watching. We had a pretty bad experience at check-in. I asked for a room upgrade which they gave us (we paid for it) but didn't mention that the room wouldn't be ready for 30 minutes until we had already paid. Then 30 minutes turned into 90 minutes and the clerk at the desk kept giving me different answers. Finally I asked to see a manager who pretty much told it was my fault for asking for an upgrade and honestly, she was dismissive she might as well have told me to kiss her butt. Other staff were friendly at various times and we don't like one bad experience to ruin a vacation but I would never go to this place again nor would I recommend it.

We have spent many months traveling in mexico over the years. Our first trip 20 years ago was to La Paz and we have been back many times since. But we will not stay at CostaBaja again. It was expensive and the room was nice. But the food was awful. Our first day there we ate at the pool bar and ordered a burger and shrimp saute. The burger came without condiments (no avocado) and was cooked way overdone when it was ordered medium. The shrimp saute was weirdly textured with no spices or taste. It was like the regular chef took a day off and someone was filling in. The beach - which you have to pay extra to sit at ($15/person per day) is next to a foul smelling area that we suspect was the hotel's sewage treatment plant. And to add to our frustration, every time we returned to our room - we had to go back down to the hotel desk to have our room key re-programmed in order to get into our room as the key didn't work for more than a few hours at a time. There are just so many better places.
