Extremely Disappointed with How We Were Treated Over Our ESA :(

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 hours ago

I have stayed at La Quinta Resort several times over the years and always thought it was a beautiful place with great service. Sadly, this last stay completely changed how we feel about this property. My wife, our family, and I drove five hours in the heat to get there, and we were just hoping to check in smoothly and start our trip off on a good note. We had called ahead before our trip to confirm that our trained emotional support animal would be welcomed without extra fees. This had never been an issue in the past, and the pet fee was always waived because we have proper ESA documentation. Over the phone, the staff reassured us the same courtesy would apply this time. When we arrived at the front desk, it was as if none of that mattered. The person checking us in acted like they had never heard of this arrangement and immediately told us we had to pay the full pet fee. I explained we had spoken to someone ahead of time and that the fee was waived during our previous stays, but nobody seemed interested in hearing us out. The attitude we got was dismissive and almost annoyed that we were even bringing it up. We asked to speak to the manager, hoping there would be some understanding or at least a little professionalism. Instead, the manager came out with an attitude that was cold and condescending. She acted like no one cared enough to check our reservation notes or confirm who we spoke to on the phone. There was zero effort to look into it or see if our situation could be verified. It makes me wonder if management here actually knows their own policies or if they just pick and choose when to enforce them. It also felt like clear discrimination against guests who rely on an ESA, which is unacceptable. What made it worse is that during all our previous stays, the resort always offered a small welcome kit or at least a treat to acknowledge pets. This time, nothing at all. No courtesy, no acknowledgment, nothing to make our dog feel welcome. For a property that advertises itself as pet-friendly, this was a pretty poor showing. This experience started our trip on such a bad foot and left all of us stressed and embarrassed. Traveling with an emotional support animal is already challenging enough without being treated like you’re doing something wrong. The lack of empathy and the unwillingness to honor what we were promised showed us this resort cares more about collecting extra fees than taking care of loyal guests. If you travel with your family and a support animal, I would think twice about booking here. It seems like their policies change whenever it suits them, and you may not get the respect or consistency you deserve. We will not be returning after this experience. A nice property means nothing if management cannot treat guests and their families with basic courtesy and understanding.

Tired Resort

I have been coming here for many years . This resort has lost its luster or maybe in summer they just don’t care. Staff at front desk was useless. He gave us the wrong room number and wrong location. He could hardly speak. He gave us no information about the resort. Our room was clean, but sparse, stained carpets. The door to our room had a wide gap when closed so bugs kept flying in. The pool was covered with dead bugs. The QR code on the tv that was supposed to take you to resort info did not work. Restaurant service was good but food is way over priced. I will not come back

Lots of pools

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Sprawling resort with lots of pools. Hard to navigate at first but by the time I left I had the gist of it. Staff friendly and accommodative. Room was large and clean but I had a constant machine noise making it difficult to sleep. Spa was lovely but wish it had more amenities. Wondering if I was there off-season because it seemed like there was slimmed down service in certain areas like the pool and pool bars.

Beautiful Property - Some Issues

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

It started out pretty rocky. I arrived a little after 3:00 and my room wasn't ready. I was early. I get that. They gave me a room key and told me to wait for a text with the room number- which seemed a little odd. So, I sat in the car in the air conditioning and waited. When my room was ready, a little after 4:30, they said I needed to come back to the front desk, return the keys I had and get new ones. Okay. So, I got new keys and drove to the room. It was right by one of the many pools. When I walked in, the smell of mold was overwhelming - and I’m very allergic to mold. I immediately opened the windows, hoping it might dissipate, and then checked the fridge - which wasn’t working. I called and they sent over a very nice man from engineering. By then, I was pretty overwhelmed by the mold. It was obvious I could not stay in this room. He agreed that it had a bad smell when he walked in. I called the front desk again and they offered a new room. Rather than have me wait in the moldy room, the engineer took me to the new room and went to the front desk to pick up the key for me. That was very nice of him! The new room was over by the maintenance area, which was a little noisy, but 100% better than the first room. I actually really enjoyed this room! It had one king bed, instead of two double beds and had no real smell to it at all. It was quiet at night, too. The rooms by the pools were not. The property itself is beautiful! The architecture was kind of unique. The wooden doors on the ballrooms are amazing! The gift shops were nice. The food left a lot to be desired. I get that this was between the event organizers and the hotel. Someone did not plan well. There was plenty of salad - even for breakfast - but no real protein to speak of. One lunch was just hors d’oeuvres - and not nearly enough to feed half of the people in attendance. Which brought many of us to the Marketplace. There, I found more salad and some sandwiches. I settled on chicken salad. It just came in a container with no bread, though - not as a sandwich. We did have one actual sit-down meal during the week. That was quite good - and much needed. On my final day, I ordered room service for breakfast. Omelet, hash browns and toast. It was good, and the man who delivered it was friendly. Once I checked out, I saw that my room was billed for someone else’s drinks. I called three times before finally getting a person in accounting who said she would have to pull and review the receipt to determine if it should be refunded, which would take 5-7 business days. Not exactly the response that I expected! So, would I stay here again? Probably not. Between the loud pool parties well into the night and the moldy room that I encountered, I would be concerned with getting a room that I could actually sleep in.

Another Great Stay!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Enjoyed a two night stay at La Quinta Resort at the end of April. Patricia, Brian, Kimberly and Jennifer at the Front Desk were particularly helpful in ensuring a great stay and are most appreciated. Also our server at the Adobe Grille, Carlos, was super friendly and knowledgeable. You can not help but unwind and relax at this property!

Great service, clean room, comfortable bed, large bathroom with 2 sinks. We stayed at La Quinta Resort and Spa. The grounds are stunning with all color of flowers. Food is great, all meals. Our only complaint would be parking. It is very minimal where your villa is located. There is parking lot available but not very close. The spa is also a great place with good therapists.
