Iconic property, epic service failures

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 17 hours ago

This is a gorgeous, iconic property but that’s where it ends. Service is terrible. Staff drive around in golf carts all day long and it felt like I was dodging them the whole time. Rooms seem to be in constant state of being cleaned with carts and trash bags all over the property. Front desk does not acknowledge Hilton Honors status, room requests, and forget about upgrades. Pools were dirty, no towels at the pools. Limited food options. Plan in advance or you really won’t eat. AMEX Platinum cardholders should also run as this hotel did not acknowledge my status or AMEX Platinum perks. Management was non-responsive. I’m taking time to write this because I convinced another family to travel here with mine only to have our trip ruined every step of the way—even after sharing my concerns. The hotel will text to ask how your stay is going and then gaslight you with non-answers. I travel frequently and this was a really bad experience.

Disappointed at La Quinta Resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We have stayed at La Quinta Resort many times over the last 20 years. This was the most disappointing trip. It used to be a Waldorf Astoria Hotel under Hilton which is very high end. It is now a Curio Collection under Hilton which is a very different management structure than Waldorf Astoria. This is what we experienced this past week: We reserved the Starlight Casita which has a large room with a very large balcony/patio that includes a sectional couch and a patio dining table to seat 4 people. It has a beautiful gas fireplace as well. Evening arrived and we could not find any lights for the patio. We called and were told there were no lights, then another person said they are on a timer. They sent an engineer and he couldn't find the lights. How do you have a patio with no lights? On the 3rd night, an engineer arrived and found the light behind the patio door that blocked it that had a loose light bulb. So he tightened it up and we had light which was on a timer set to go on at dusk and off at dawn. Then the engineer discovered our patio door's battery needed replacing so he sent security who fixed it. When we checked into our room I noticed there weren't any drawers for our clothes. The room sleeps 4 people since it has a sleeper/sofa. I told the "new" guest services manager and he agreed that you shouldn't have to live out of your suitcase and he would get back to me. Never heard from him the whole stay even after calling for him. I texted guest services and was told it's a historic hotel (which didn't make sense to me) for no dresser as other rooms have dressers. Then I was told it would be difficult to move a dresser up to our stairs. They seemed to be able to get all the other furniture in the room with no problem. They offered no resolution for us. Most of the communication was done through texting as I wanted to document everything. I tried calling one of the restaurants, Morgan's and it went to voicemail regarding my reservation. They never called me back. When we showed up to Morgan's, I asked if they checked their voicemails and they said we're too busy. Why is everyone too busy in hospitality everywhere? There was full staff there working. Dinner was delicious at Morgan's and had the Tomahawk steak for the 4 of us. We had lunch at 26 and after 45 minutes of waiting for our food, we asked the waiter and he forgot to put the order in. He gave us 20% off; where he should have compted the whole lunch for his mistake! We were surprised Adobe Grill was only open for lunch Friday - Sunday. Dinner was open all the other nights. People love to eat Mexican food for lunch. We enjoyed The Marketplace which had coffee, tea, breakfast, lunch and grab n go items. They have an app where you can order ahead and pick it up...but check it before you leave as they got it wrong on our order as we discovered back at our room. They kindly replaced the food. We kept finding bags of trash from Housekeeping at the bottom of our stairs outside. We told maintenance as we saw them and it was never picked up. We had to text several times. The pool towels by the pool were not stocked and used towels were not picked up from the chairs. It took 2 hours to get towels restocked and it was dark by then. I was also told a manager would call me from all the problems and not one manager reached out to us. Bathroom glasses were not replenished after housekeeping cleaned the room. The housekeep kept taking away our bath rugs and not returning every time she cleaned the room. I had to text again and again. We had enjoyable spa treatments. They were out of hot water on both sides (mens and womens) for tea which they served; had to wait for it. They do not serve napkins with the snacks or tea. Water had spilled on the floor with nothing to cover it up to prevent slippage so I threw a magazine down until someone came. Everytime I would text with an issue, they would replay back I'm sorry and hope you enjoy your stay and return. All the names of the personnel are on the texts and just didn't seem to care. I was tired of the "I'm sorry" from everyone with no action taken. It's a beautiful property and they are celebrating their 100th year. I hope they get it together as it was stressful and not relaxing which is why we go on vacation. I'm still waiting for a manger to call me back!

La Quinta is Awesome

La Quinta is awesome! The hotel waterfall was awesome, the restaurants were nice, and sliding down the hill was fun! The room was nice. It felt like a house, and I want to live there! I recommend this hotel.

Outstanding service and beautiful family resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We had a great experience at La Quinta Resort, thanks in large part to Martha C. at the front desk. She struck the perfect balance between being professional and personable — warm, attentive, and efficient without ever feeling rushed or scripted. Check-in was smooth, and she made us feel genuinely welcomed. Front desk interactions really set the tone for a stay, and Martha absolutely delivered. She’s a true asset to the resort, and we look forward to returning.

Great service, clean room, comfortable bed, large bathroom with 2 sinks. We stayed at La Quinta Resort and Spa. The grounds are stunning with all color of flowers. Food is great, all meals. Our only complaint would be parking. It is very minimal where your villa is located. There is parking lot available but not very close. The spa is also a great place with good therapists.
