We stayed at La Quinta over Memorial Day weekend. It is a beautiful resort and does have that old Hollywood feel. The staff are friendly but the service is not what it should be for a resort trying to bill itself as upscale. First, we ordered room service everyday and we'd leave the tray outside our door when done. It took over 10 hours each day before someone picked them up. We saw the same with other rooms and even dirty dishes left out in the middle of the resort all day despite staff driving all over in golf carts. At the Rogers pool they regularly ran out of towels and they were never replenished. Also staff let patrons leave towels and items out ALL DAY. We'd be at a pool all alone but unable to get chairs because other people leave their trash, towels, and items out, saving their chairs all day. We liked it enough that we are going back but I literally called the concierge 4 times to try to get a tee time. I was accidentally hung up on twice, once I was transferred to the golf course which only books same day tee times, and then I left a voicemail (the message says you will get a call within 30 minutes) it's been 12 hours. I'm guessing they aren't calling me back. We had a bad experience at the main pool but the pool manager Armando went out of his way to make it right and if not for him we wouldn't consider returning. That's the kind of customer service all of their employees need to get trained in or this place will continue to go downhill. Now, time for my 5th try to get the concierge (Mimi) to book my tee time....

For a Waldorf Astoria hotel, we were extremely disappointed in the service follow-up. Our room was the only room that did not have a patio umbrella (115 degrees). It took 4 days (of our 6 day stay) to get one delivered and then, it was simply dropped off, no stand and left leaning against the wall (as if to say "you wanted an umbrella, here it is.."). Also, it took 4+ calls to get ice delivered to chill our champagne upon my husband's arrival. Needless to say, we never had it. Not the Waldorf I am used to.... Grounds/property is beautiful though.

I have stayed at this property for the past thirty years with always a wonderful experience. Now that Hilton took it over I was very disappointed with the check inservice. Received a room I didn't reserve. I was told the hotel was full and that there was nothing they could do even though I called that morning and spoke to someone at the front desk requesting a certain room. No one knew what I was talking about. No communication what so ever. The front desk was very uncaring. Not the service I received before Hilton took over the property. Even a man behind me verbalized to me the service at the front desk was poor when he was checking charges on his bill. I had to change rooms the next day to my original request. Of course, they made me wait. I finally asked if there was another casita ready so we could move our bags from the baggage room to our new room. They did not offer another casita that was ready until I asked. Instead they were going to make me wait longer for the room which I already waited four hours for. We went somewhere else to eat for lunch until our room was ready. When we came back the room still was still not ready. It was a 117 degrees that day with no room. WHAT THE....! The property was beautiful and the maids and baggage staff seemed like the only ones that smiled and gave great service. Perhaps the front desk can take their cue. Some of the pools had debris in them. They could have been cleaned of the debris during the morning. I hate how the hotels these days make you pay the extra service charge for things I never use such as the phones, exercise room, etc. and whatever else they can nickel and dime you for. Such a beautiful hotel. If only the service matched. I hope the next time I stay here the problems get corrected. If not I will get names and send the manager a letter.

This is a resort that recalls the best of Palm Springs in the 1920's through 1950's. Discreet, elegant, I felt like a movie star on vacation. Private, enormous bathroom, hand painted tiles. Even the convention food was very good.

I tried to call reservation desk today to ask specific questions regarding room type, amenities, size, etc, only to be told, "they're in a meeting, please try calling back in 45 minutes." I repeated the reason for my call, only to be told AGAIN, "Sorry, again, they're all in a meeting, can you call back in 45 minutes?" Wow.
