Casa de Campo in La Romana, Dominican Republic
At Casa de Campo, rich mahogany and a private terrace highlight rooms at the Pete Dye Golf Lodge. The hall-of-fame golfer and course architect crafted three championship golf courses on the property, including the #1 golf course in the Caribbean – Teeth of the Dog. Italian designers Gianfranco Fini & Piero Giacosa paved the way for the resort’s massive marina, complete with a yacht club, sailing school, and shopping mall. Altos de Chavon, a 16th century replica of a Mediterranean village and a cornerstone of any resort visit since it’s unveiling in 1982, sits a quick trek up the cliffs. Master designer Roberto Coppa constructed the village above the Chavon River, and it features restaurants, shopping, an archeological museum and a 5,000 seat Grecian-style amphitheater that is home to the weekly Kandela! musical.
Tee-off from the first hole of Teeth of the Dog and challenge yourself to a championship course. Indulge in Mediterranean specialties like Lobster & Porcini Mushroom Risotto at La Caña by Il Circo restaurant. Take aim and fire at one of 200 stations at the 245 acre Sporting Clays Shooting Center. Soak in new cultural knowledge at The Archeological Regional Museum and Church of St. Stanislaus at the Altos de Chavon village. Dance to upbeat Cabarete-style music on the front porch of Onno’s Bar while sampling a fresh Caipirinha cocktail.

Reviews for Casa de Campo
Beautiful property and excellent golf. Attention to detail and totally relaxing. Dramatic golf courses and beautiful scenery abound. There is something for everyone at Casa de Campo.......beach club, riding, golf, the marina and so much more. Having your own golf cart to explore the 7,000 acre resort is fun. Altos de Chavon is a shuttle away....as is the cigar factory.

The service is flawless, and they all speak excellent English. The room is a bit outdated and there is only one pool but there are plenty of restaurants and excursions to keep you busy. There was champagne offered upon check in. I was easily able to book a spa service and shooting range activity. Concierge also called my room to ask if I would like to make reservations for dinner. This particularly met my needs before I realized that I needed it which is the true service of a 5 star hotel. The lady who checked me in was very proper and professional too. There is one thing that should be addressed though. I was in need of a first aid kit during the wee hours which couldn't be provided. I only wanted alcohol pad and bandaid to clean out an open cut on my fiances foot. They did recover by calling me first thing in the morning and offered a nurse to come to the room and assist with the open wound, but a first aid kit should be available at any given time of the day. Otherwise very great second stay and I will return for a third stay being that my fiances family live in Villa Verde and San Carlos so Casa de Campo is convenient and offers the best service in the county.

the room and bath sizes are generous ... each room has its own golf cart for driving around the complex - very convenient and needed ... the spa was outstanding ... the fitness center is the best ever seen at a resort and with trainers who were knowledgeable ... Lago restaurant has very nice breakfast buffet with a beautiful view across the golf course to the sea ... the lobby bar was okay with service not inattentive even though not busy

It is a great place, but I would suggest you speak Spanish if you want to get past security. And don't be in a hurry to get to your room and on the beach. Check in takes 45-60 minutes!!! Same for check out.

We stayed at this resort in an elite patio room. We originally booked a room in the golf lodge, but upon arrival the front desk offered us an upgrade to the elite patio room. Great accommodations. Spacious room with a great view of a grassy area and you could catch a glimpse of the ocean in the distance. Bed was very comfortable. Mini fridge was stocked and beverages were reasonable priced in the fridge (cheaper than at bar/restaurant). We opted to not do the all inclusive option since we were only staying a couple of days and had activities planned for most of the day time period. We noticed bar and resort restaurant prices were a little on the high side. There was a golf card included with our room. We enjoyed exploring the vast resort area in the evenings. Enjoyed visiting the Altos de Chavon area. We discovered they have a small store and restaurants that were reasonably priced (more economical than resort area). Will be doing separate reviews of places we visited here. Golf was great at Teeth of the Dog. It was all that was expected for a top rated course. Round played at Dye Fore was disappointing. Most of the course (2/3's) was closed for maintenance even though when we booked tee times we were not notified of this. A half round was played on The Links and this was a nice course also. The beach area was nice on shore, but once in the water, it was a fairly rocky area. Just be aware before entering the water if you are expecting a sandy beach area. Overall, would want to stay here again.
