Casa de Campo in La Romana, Dominican Republic
At Casa de Campo, rich mahogany and a private terrace highlight rooms at the Pete Dye Golf Lodge. The hall-of-fame golfer and course architect crafted three championship golf courses on the property, including the #1 golf course in the Caribbean – Teeth of the Dog. Italian designers Gianfranco Fini & Piero Giacosa paved the way for the resort’s massive marina, complete with a yacht club, sailing school, and shopping mall. Altos de Chavon, a 16th century replica of a Mediterranean village and a cornerstone of any resort visit since it’s unveiling in 1982, sits a quick trek up the cliffs. Master designer Roberto Coppa constructed the village above the Chavon River, and it features restaurants, shopping, an archeological museum and a 5,000 seat Grecian-style amphitheater that is home to the weekly Kandela! musical.
Tee-off from the first hole of Teeth of the Dog and challenge yourself to a championship course. Indulge in Mediterranean specialties like Lobster & Porcini Mushroom Risotto at La Caña by Il Circo restaurant. Take aim and fire at one of 200 stations at the 245 acre Sporting Clays Shooting Center. Soak in new cultural knowledge at The Archeological Regional Museum and Church of St. Stanislaus at the Altos de Chavon village. Dance to upbeat Cabarete-style music on the front porch of Onno’s Bar while sampling a fresh Caipirinha cocktail.

Reviews for Casa de Campo
I recently stayed at Casa de Campo for a wedding weekend. The resort was beautiful with many activities available. The room was spacious with cute features. The resort is vast and a golf cart is definitely needed to get around. The pool was great with plenty of chairs and an awesome swim-up bar. I never found the resort to be crowded. It was more family oriented. The staff was very nice and welcoming.

We would go back and tell our friends Everyone was very friendly and helpful The villa was fabulous. The only disappointment was the charges for bottles with such a large group. That only 2 bottles of water were included for 12 people.
If you want a great golfing experience, fantastic food, friendly service. outstanding living facilities and your own golf cart to go to the beach. This is the place. Have played golf everywhere in the Caribbean and this is by far the best place for your money
My wife and I really enjoy Casa de Campo. It is on the lower-end of the Leading Hotels of the World properties (it is 4-star as opposed to 5-star) and you can notice the difference. However, it is much less expensive than most other LHW properties, making it an excellent value. Combine that value with the 7,000+ acres of outdoor activities (including pools, the beach, multiple golf courses, marina, artist village, shooting range, horseback riding, water sports, and more activities than I can possibly list) and Casa is an excellent vacation. There is one downside to the lower price -- you run into a lot of partiers that would normally not be at a LHW property. Our room was nice, but the room next to us was very loud and kept us up the first night. The next day, one of the housekeeping staff was at our room and said to me, as if it was no big deal, that "the people next door can be loud." My response was "so tell them to stop." She seemed shocked at my forceful statement, but we never had a problem with them again. There seemed to be a lot of local people just hanging out on the property, including the noisy neighbors, taking up parking spaces and basically doing whatever they wanted. This also included a packed pool, including a couple kids in their early 20s who had their phone charging in the pool bar. Every time they got a text message or wanted to change a song (they were playing through a bluetooth speaker they turned up to play louder than the ambient music) they simply barged their way over or through my wife (including pushing her off her seat). I was surprised an LHW property would allow this to happen. However, the outdoor activities are wonderful, it is like summer camp for adults. We had a great time playing the Teeth of the Dog, which I was pleasantly surprised to find is not overrated and definitely worth a round. Unlike most resort courses it was not crowded and we had our choice of tee times. The beach is nice and the dinning options are plentiful (though not as varied as I would have expected). I definitely recommend Casa de Campo. Just be wary of the apparent local invasion if visiting over the summer and the fact it is a 4-star, not 5-star property.

Great customer service, beautiful gardens, peaceful surroundings. Too many great things to say about Casa de Campo. We live in California and my two kids always tell me to go back to Casa de Campo. They enjoy the food, amenities and their best part is riding around in the golf carts. A++++ rating from us.
