Limited Event: Casa de Campo in La Romana, Dominican Republic
At – part of the collection of – rich mahogany and a private terrace highlight rooms at the Pete Dye Golf Lodge. The hall-of-fame golfer and course architect crafted three championship golf courses on the property, including the #1 golf course in the Caribbean – Teeth of the Dog. Italian designers Gianfranco Fini & Piero Giacosa paved the way for the resort’s massive marina, complete with a yacht club, sailing school, and shopping mall. Altos de Chavon, a 16th century replica of a Mediterranean village and a cornerstone of any resort visit since it’s unveiling in 1982, sits a quick trek up the cliffs. Master designer Roberto Coppa constructed the village above the Chavon River, and it features restaurants, shopping, an archeological museum and a 5,000 seat Grecian-style amphitheater that is home to the weekly Kandela! musical.
Tee-off from the first hole of Teeth of the Dog and challenge yourself to a championship course. Indulge in Mediterranean specialties like Lobster & Porcini Mushroom Risotto at La Caña by Il Circo restaurant. Take aim and fire at one of 200 stations at the 245 acre Sporting Clays Shooting Center. Soak in new cultural knowledge at The Archeological Regional Museum and Church of St. Stanislaus at the Altos de Chavon village. Dance to upbeat Cabarete-style music on the front porch of Onno’s Bar while sampling a fresh Caipirinha cocktail.

Beautiful location and friendly, courteous staff!!! If the people make the place then Casa de Campo is the place to go. We had a wonderful time and their gorgeous resort and the staff was phenomenal. Our maid was wonderful, always willing to go the extra mile and with genuine desire to help (we wish we could remember her name but date of stay was 04/11-04/18/2018 room 219). We did have a few issues with the room that were not able to be fixed during our stay, however the positives of Casa de Campo far outweighed the minor issues we encountered and the staff was instrumental in assuring that our stay was pleasurable and memorable. Franklin Vargas at the pool bar was extremely personable, always called us by name and was always eager to tend to our every need! Emmanuel Taveras, bell boy, was also extremely professional, genuine, eager to help and so very pleasant!
My husband and I just spent 4 nights at Casa de Campo and I wanted to cry when we left. We loved this place and left saying that we would be back for years to come! The room was nicely appointed, and the golf cart was a fun and much needed (due to size of property) touch. Although the room wasn't exactly on the water, we were on the golf course and had a view of the water in the distance. While my husband played golf, I will say that activities are plentiful if you are a non-golfer such as me. Main pool is very close to the rooms, and the beach club is about a 7 minute golf cart ride down the road. The beach club has beach, pool, and a restaurant that are just as beautiful as the pictures on their website show. What sets this place above the rest is their amazing customer service. The employees are the kindest, most helpful that we have ever come across - and I mean ALL of their employees. Just be mindful, you will spend $ here on food and drink. They don't come cheap but we were never disappointed with either and there are tons of options as far as bars/restaurants go. This place is paradise, no doubt. If you have the opportunity to visit, do so and you will not regret it!

We have just returned from an absolutely wonderful holiday / honeymoon at the Casa de Campo. I say honeymoon as we were lucky enough to get married at the Chevon during our holiday. We had a small wedding (just the two of us) which was superbly arranged by Susana Devers and Ilanny. Susan and Ilanny helped us through the process of obtaining our documentation and ensuring we had everything correct before we left the UK. They arranged flowers, the photographer and witnesses. The photographer was Alfredo Esteban he is an absolutely fantastic photographer and very professional, we would highly recommend him if you are thinking of getting married at the hotel. Before we left the UK we were unsure of the location for our wedding, we did not know whether to get married on the beach or at the Chevon, as soon as we saw the location of the Chevon and the views from the church, we knew this was the perfect location. We booked the “all inclusive” package, which is very good value. The food in the restaurants is amazing, we dined in all the “all inclusive” restaurants at the Chevon (La Piazzetta) and the Marina (Pubbelly Sushi and La Casita) and the food was faultless. We never had any problems reserving a table. The drinks at the bar and restaurants are all premium drinks and the prosecco is included in the all inclusive package. The La Cana restaurant is open every evening and the food is superb. There is a big variety of dishes and they will cook a dish upon request. We would like to say a special thank you to Nicaury Nunez for the beautiful cake the night before our wedding. Breakfast in the Lago restaurant has a fantastic view over the Teeth of the Dog golf course, we were well looked after every morning by Antonio and his amazing Dominican coffee. The breakfast is superb and caters for all tastes. Lunch in the Lago restaurant is great, every day they have a Dominican counter where you can taste the local cuisine. They also cook excellent fresh red snapper and other fish which is amazing. The Luna bar is a great place to sit around in the evening for a few drinks, Francisco and Cristobel were excellent barmen and very welcoming and soon got to know our favourite tipples!! We upgraded our room to an Elite Balcony Room which was arranged by Jose Herrera who went the extra mile to ensure our room was suitable for our honeymoon, he personally took us to see the room to ensure we were happy and it met our requirements. The room was lovely with a view of one of the beautiful golf courses. All the rooms come with your own personal golf cart which is a fun way of getting around the resort. There are two pools, one has a swim up bar and a children’s pool, the other is quieter and is great for relaxing. The sun loungers are the best I’ve ever laid on! The staff who look after the pool area and serve food and drinks work extremely hard and were always there asking if we needed anything. A big thank you to Melvin Devers, Rosa, Judith and Argentina. The hotel and grounds are exceptionally clean and well kept, this would not be possible without the amazing staff that work hard every day. We felt very safe in the hotel as the security are very visible driving around all day and all night long. All of the golf courses were top quality, the caddies I used were Roberto and Arismendy, their knowledge of the course was excellent. They helped to take up to 10 shots off my rounds. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and highly recommend this hotel as everything for us was absolutely perfect.
