Reviews for Cascade Wellness Resort

Fantastic Lagos hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Absolutely fantastic week at Cascade Wellness, it exceeded my expectations. My first point is about the main pool, it was so quiet and absolutely no rushing for a bed. People come and go but always lots of beds available with umbrellas. Breakfast was excellent, everything you could wish for and a very high quality. We didn’t have evening means as we went out each night but bar food and cocktails were great. Great staff, really friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was a one bed apartment and was perfect, kitchen facilities had everything if you were going to cook. My small comment would be a little maintenance outside on the balcony with the paint work. The rest of the resort immaculately maintained. A lovely peaceful location and only 15 walk into the old town but we did also grab a few Ubers as it was hot. The beach being about 10 mins (uphill on the way back) is stunning, clear sea and lovely views. Couple of nice beach bars available there too. Thank you, we will be back next year.

An atypical stay. It looks like it could be great, our experience just wasn’t.

Upon arrival all staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. We booked through a travel agent who, no idea what they were thinking, booked us an “apartment”. My first instinct was to change that because who needs a kitchen on vacation but since it had laundry it sounded like a good idea as we were in the middle of an almost 6 week trip. Big mistake. The apartments are quite a ways from the main hotel. The apartments are so big the air conditioning was in affective. So it was too hot to sleep. Secondly the “laundry was just a washer no dryer so that was useless to us as well. The kitchen is fitted out with everything you would need if you were on a budget vacation with the kids and planned to cook. Mind you there were no kitchen towels or paper towels. The bathroom was horrible with a deep whirlpool tub as the only showering facility. Oh, no tv in the bedroom. We spent our second day in Lagos repacking and changing rooms. We room was among the nicest on this trip. What a difference. Modern, pool/ocean view. Things were looking up until we went to the on-site gastronomy restaurant, for my birthday dinner, and had the worst experience. Service was slow and in attentive to us. Others all around were served at a proper pace. We had the appy, some oysters and then nothing. Waited so long, and it got very cold out so we were freezing, that the wine we ordered for dinner was long gone and food still hadn’t arrived. Eventually we just stormed out. Never. Never have I had such horrible service (maybe I have lets be real here) but it was so disappointing. On the positive room service arrives hot every time with the most gracious staff! Overall if you want a resort this is a great place. if you are travelling to see the area it’s not the best location. Too far from Town, beaches and restaurants.

Decent luxury option in Algarve

We had a pleasant stay at Cascade Wellness Resort in Lagos. The location is beautiful, close to the cliffs and coastal walks, and it's a great base for exploring the Algarve if you have a car. The service was consistently good, with friendly and helpful staff throughout our stay. The heated pool was a nice touch, and the rooms and grounds were well maintained. The main downside was breakfast. While the food selection was good, having to wait for a table on some mornings was disappointing. For a resort that markets itself as a luxury property, this shouldn't really happen. And also check in should have been better The resort itself is fairly quiet, with limited activities on-site, so it's best suited to guests who plan to spend most of their time exploring the area. Overall, a good resort with excellent service and facilities, but a few details keep it from feeling truly five-star.

Not worth the price

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Honestly, I’m surprised This has so many good reviews. For the price that was very disappointed in our stay. The property is old but clean. Smell smells great, but is comfortable cleaning staff does a very good job. My concerns are the fact that they put us in a room with a bathroom mirror over the sink that was foggy and full of black marks something that should’ve been replaced forever ago, making it almost impossible to see yourself in the mirror. There are other mirrors, but this just seems like something insane to leave there for guests. We all had issues with our shower, but those were fixed within 24 hours, but nothing was offered to compensate with the fact that the temperature in the shower was either freezing or boiling hot, making it almost impossible to take one. They have an entire gluten-free section at the buffet, but overall the breakfast buffet was not great. Bacon had a weird taste every time and was almost impossible to chew. Opted out of eating the free breakfast more than once. Coffee has also just those massive Nespresso machines and not real espresso so don’t expect a great latte. Pool is very nice. access to the beach is great! Rooms need an updating like the mirror and lampshades. They’re also several spots where there was previous water damage and it almost looks like mold that should probably be better cleaned up. Overall, it’s not a horrible hotel and the location is great especially if you have a car. However, I feel like I really overpaid for what we got. I would not spend more than 230 a night if that.
