We were very impressed with Cascade. We stayed in one of their one bed apartments which was really spacious. Rooms are cleaned daily and the entire place is spotless! We especially liked the free shuttle which takes you into Lagos. Lagos itself has a wide range of great restaurants to choose from and it was between €4 - €5 euros for a taxi back. The freshwater pools at Cascade are lovely. We spent a lot of our time lounging beside the hotel pool and the staff are really attentive ensuring an excellent poolside service. We also liked the constant supply of fresh pool towels. We were also very impressed with both hotel restaurants with great food and service. The onsite gym and classes were lots of fun and perfect if you want to stay fit or start a new fitness regime. The personal trainers tailor workouts to your needs and ensure you carry out exercises safely. With a fabulous beach a short walk away and great fish restaurants also within easy walking distance and good wine, all in all it was the perfect holiday for us!!

I had always wanted to visit Portugal but wasn't sure if I wanted to go to a city or its beaches. I had seen lots of pictures of Lagos and instantly became infatuated with its beauty. I did extensive research on the area and settled on Cascade as it looked extremely inviting. What a place! The moment we arrived we were swiftly welcomed and taken to the front desk - there was a little bit of a hiccup here but this was due to booking.com and not the hotel. The manager, Ricardo, was most hospitable and helpful in telling us how to resolve some issues. Giselle showed us places of interest nearby and then Maxsim escorted us to our room in a buggy. We were in awe of the place, our apartment was spacious and delightful and my friend and I were on cloud nine. The resort boasts of about 5 pools (including the kid ones) though I only went into 3. The main pool in the front of the hotel was where I found most relaxing, we would swim, tan and then order by the pool. Leonardo was most gracious and always by our side serving us 24/7. I sometimes felt the staff were overworked a little though they always had a big genuine smile on their faces. The hotel also has a car service and Hugo took us to the city centre a few minutes away, he was very sweet and pleasant. The restaurant Senses was where we would lounge in the afternoons and order a drink / there was a young female there who made us drinks off the menu and they were absolutely fantastic! (Sorry I can't remember her name!) The resort also has the caves/grottos a short walk away (10 minutes on a trail) and we got to see Ponte de Piadade from up above (and later down below when we went on a kayaking tour) I can not recommend this resort enough, I only spent 3 days here and it seemed too little though I cherished every second of it.

On a wonderful family vacation the last thing you want is a place that you have to literally argue about every little thing. We arrived at the hotel and were escorted an "apartment" which was fine. However, the view was like nothing I have ever seen. It was literally a dirt field outside the door...but there was a patio overlooking the dirt. When we seemed dissatisfied by the room the bellman knowingly said "oh is it the view? I know it isn't good." We were told the hotel was at 100% capacity and we would have to stay here. It took calling our travel agent, her supervisor, and hotel management to get out of there. During the time we were in the apartment I unmade one of the beds only to find hairs on the sheets...talk about disgusting. After a few very stressful hours (during which we went to the pool--there were no towels available anywhere) we were told a villa was open and we would be moved there. The villa was absolutely beautiful which is the only reason this review was given a "poor" and not "terrible". There was absolutely no problems with the accommodation in the villa--the problem was literally everything else. We went to the hotel restaurant for a drink one night which took over 40 minutes to receive--and when the drinks arrived they were wrong. We ordered food at the pool that took over an hour to get, and we only received after asking about it twice--and it arrived freezing cold and tasteless. And then the final straw was when we arrived at the spa for our scheduled appointments to be told that nobody was actually available to do the treatments. There is nothing worse than preparing to have a relaxing massage only to be told the disorganization and incompetence of every employee at the property has made that impossible. The icing on the cake was getting back to the villa and requesting a check out at 1pm instead of 11am and being told sure--for 261 euro. Management called back to comp the checkout later but we left early that morning anyways to get back to somewhere with halfway decent service.

Had a lovely few days in this hotel. Loved the location overlooking the sea, with access to cliff walks and even a small beach. the bedroom was first class, the staff were lovely. Breakfast excellent. The atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming. The Bar is small for the size of the hotel and the service here was a little slow but only added to the charm really. Will definitely go back.

Its our second visit to this hotel. It did not let us down. Room facilities very good. Service very good. The food choice at breakfast was first class and catered for all tastes. They offer both German and English papers in the dining room. Such a shame there was only one of each. Just a little insignificant point, but relevant considering the quality of the hotel.
