Surf & Sand Resort in Laguna Beach, California

Orange County's well-bred Laguna Beach is the backdrop to Surf & Sand Resort, which feels secluded despite its central location. The Pacific Ocean glimmers in newly renovated rooms and suites – a palate of cool whites, beige and aquamarine blends with the view seen through floor-to-ceiling windows. Chic cabanas flank a beachside infinity pool, and original artwork supports Laguna’s thriving art community.

Recline under a goose down comforter as dawn breaks over the ocean. Take a morning stroll to town – stop for coffee at a sidewalk caf and browse the artwork on Gallery Row. Revive with a superfruit martini made with aai spirits and blueberry vodka on an oceanfront patio with glass walls. Finish the evening with Carlsbad black mussels in a vin jaune broth.

Got to the hotel. Valet was ok. Room was great. Check- in average. Coffee shop was awesome. Getting a massage was awesome. Loved the Jacuzzi. Staying at the pool was great. Housekeeping was horrible. Tried talking to the housekeepers. All they said was no speak english. Food in splashes was great by chef David Fune.

After looking at so many pretty photos and seeing this beautiful resort on social media I couldn’t wait for my stay. This was my first time to Laguna Beach and I didn’t really have many expectations other than a beautiful location with lots of beautiful things and people. Finding the resort was very easy, even for my geographically/directionally challenged self so that was a huge plus right off the bat. The valet was extremely friendly and welcoming as were the front desk personnel. I graciously greeted and given a map of the resort (some people may not need this but again, I am directionally challenged so I thought it was great) and pointed in the direction of my room. There are several buildings on site spa, room towers, restaurant, gift shop so I had a little difficulty locating my room the first time but it didn’t take too long to find. To say the views from my balcony were incredible would be a true understatement (see photos). The proximity to the ocean was incredible however, I wasn’t super thrilled to be so close to the pool, next time I will request a higher floor-especially not having my own kids or being someone who was traveling with any, I didn’t particularly care to hear everyone else’s but it wasn’t too bad. I did have a conjoining room which was probably my biggest complaint. I was next to a family (I saw two kids on the balcony next to me and heard an adult male and female voice so I’m assuming a family of 4) that played loud music from their room and opened and shut their sliding door about 10 Times a minute. This is not the resort’s fault, I understand but I would seriously recommend if you’re looking for a more quiet/relaxing atmosphere to request 1. A higher floor away from the pool and 2. Nonconjoining rooms as it appears the walls are pretty thin. I ordered room service my first night because I had every intention of going to Splashes but was just having too much fun whale and dolphin watching from my balcony that I lost track of time. The food and service did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. I left the resort for most of the next day and returned early evening (again to the screaming and loud music/colorful conversation of the guests next door) but caught another breathtaking sunset. I went down in hopes of getting a seat at the bar for dinner-Splashes was absolutely packed but given that it was a Saturday night, great atmosphere and I had already sampled some of the incredible food, I can’t say I was surprised. So I went and sat on the beach and watched more of the sunset and really enjoyed just being where I was. Once the sun had completely disappeared into the ocean I went back up to my room and ordered another fabulous dinner-you HAVE to try to petite fillet and calamari, I promise you won’t be disappointed! I had to check out extremely early the next morning to catch a flight back home and the staff was very accommodating and friendly even at 4ish in the morning! All in all the resort was beautiful, the food excellent, the staff very helpful and friendly and the accommodations were very nice. My only real complaints were regarding other guests which again, really isn’t the fault of the resort. I certainly plan on visiting again and look forward to doing so. Thank you Surf and Sand for a great getaway ☀️🌴

I enjoyed every moment of my stay at the Surf and Sand Resort. From the crashing waves right in front of my room to whales breaching as i stared off my balcony, this hotel did not disappoint. I highly suggest you give this hotel a try as it has charm, service and prone beach front real estate.

Last evening after finishing an incredible dinner at Splash and getting back to our beautiful room my wife Marsha turned to me and said this was our best anniversary ever. This is a great Hotel. It is right up there with any Four Seasons that we have stayed at. And, the service is better and so very personal. The parking valet and bell service was exceptional. Everyone on the staff was smiling and happy. Housekeeping was great as was the turn-down service. The Website described the room we booked as ocean front and was it ever. You could almost touch the waves. The Website has beautiful photography and the reality exceeded the expectation created by the Website. We had an amazing anniversary dinner in Splash. Indoor and outdoor dining right on the ocean. Our waiter Kyle was exceptional and provided a detailed description of the dishes we were interested in. The also have a really good coffee and pastry bar with a great outdoor seating area with gas fire place and fire pits at each seating area. Hint...the chocolate chip cookies are outstanding but sell out quickly. We will return!

Great location on a beautiful stretch of beach that is not overly crowded. Great for walking, playing or just sitting under an umbrella. We stayed in an ocean front tower room and could hear the waves all the time. The comfy bed is placed so that you can see the water from it, plus we enjoyed the little balcony. In the early mornings it was nice to see local folks taking their dogs out on the beach for walks. Our room was very nice, roomy, attractive. The pool area is nice but was very busy. 5 stars for terrific service - front desk, concierge, bellmen, housekeeping. Family friendly.
