Surf & Sand Resort in Laguna Beach, California

Orange County's well-bred Laguna Beach is the backdrop to Surf & Sand Resort, which feels secluded despite its central location. The Pacific Ocean glimmers in newly renovated rooms and suites – a palate of cool whites, beige and aquamarine blends with the view seen through floor-to-ceiling windows. Chic cabanas flank a beachside infinity pool, and original artwork supports Laguna’s thriving art community.

Recline under a goose down comforter as dawn breaks over the ocean. Take a morning stroll to town – stop for coffee at a sidewalk café and browse the artwork on Gallery Row. Revive with a superfruit martini made with açai spirits and blueberry vodka on an oceanfront patio with glass walls. Finish the evening with Carlsbad black mussels in a vin jaune broth.

My stay wasn't overall a bad experience but immediately started off on the wrong foot. I specifically reserved a type of room in the smaller of the two buildings because I was told by the reservation staff it was quieter and more secluded from the rest of the property. Upon arrival I was informed my room was not available even though I could show on my reservation exactly what I had paid for. The cost of this hotel I believe is a little strong for what you get. The staff especially the bellman and valet are exceptional. Was a few times I had forgotten something in the car and valet was more than accommodating. Front desk however basically just stood and stared at me after telling me my room wasn't available. They attempted to upgrade me slightly which in all honesty didn't feel like an upgrade. Wishing now I would've chosen a different location to stay.

I love this Resort! I am a resident of Laguna Beach and I am well traveled. I probably frequent this hotel more than any other hotel in thew world. Great location, great attitude, great food and beach! Try the taco bar on the weekends or the Splashes restaurant for that special romantic sunset dinner and you don't want to miss hanging out at the pool! I highly recommend!

We had a chance to getaway during the week recently and headed to Laguna Beach, CA. This time we tried Surf & Sand. First, the staff are ALL amazing. Top notch all: the auto attendants, the front desk, the restaurant, etc etc - all are great and carry the resort on their shoulders. Next, our first room was in the middle building aka Seaview Terrace. It had a partial view of the pool and an amazing sea view. We watched a small wedding on a deck by the pool and listened to the kids splashing in the pool but these were not too loud. Unfortunately, we were jarred awake at 7am the first morning by a crew cleaning and repairing the pool deck area with pressure washers, a compressor, and hand tools. It was very loud. The front desk apologized and said it would stop. It sort of got quieter but the front desk moved us to the Tower. They knew how to react quickly. This room was right on the sand and we had a breathtaking view. The room was old and was well worn and somewhat dirty. Under the beds were dirty which we noticed while shooing away a pigeon that had worked its way into the room. Also, the coffee mugs had lipstick on them, clearly not cleaned. Again, the view, the staff, and the room rates were all great.

came here for a wedding and the actual hotel is beautiful. the view is next level and the rooms are spacious and lovely. the staff was accommodating and we enjoyed our stay. I think there are a few small things that could've been better for the price we paid, but overall I liked our stay.
