Surf & Sand Laguna Beach

I arrived at check-in time, but my room was not ready due to an issue. It ended up taking several hours before we were finally given access. We were told someone would meet us at the room with the key so we wouldn’t have to return to the front desk, but that never happened. During that time, we had to track down our luggage ourselves and had nowhere to change. To make matters worse, both the pool and bar were closed early for private events, so we couldn’t even enjoy the amenities. When we finally got into the room, the shower was broken and the patio door was also not functioning properly. The only compensation offered was a $200 credit, which felt inadequate given everything we experienced. The front desk staff was noticeably irritated whenever I asked for updates and was not hospitable. Dinner service was also very poor. Overall, this has been a very disappointing experience, especially for a property of this level and on my birthday.

Stayed at Surf & Sand in Laguna for a little staycation with a friend, and while things didn’t start off perfectly, the trip completely turned around thanks to Christina, the Director of Guest Experience. I won’t get into all the details from check-in, but by day two, after meeting Christin, everything shifted. She truly went above and beyond and made us feel taken care of in a way that changed the entire tone of our stay. From that point on, it was exactly what we were hoping for: relaxing, easy, and really lovely. The restaurant food was amazing, and the service throughout the hotel was consistently fantastic. Definitely recommend staying here, especially knowing they have someone like Christina making sure guests are happy.

I would not recommend this resort. The power and A/C went out in our room and we had to sit in the dark. Maintenance told us not to plug anything in, as it would “overload” the room. We were told the resort was at capacity, so we couldn’t change rooms. We were then told @ 11:00 pm we could change rooms, then had to repack everything and move rooms. The A/C in the new room went out as well and stopped working. There were multiple other people at the front desk complaining about their stay and I overhead the front desk staff talking to guests on the phone complaining. The pool really wasn’t very nice either. I wouldn’t recommend this resort, as I would truly expect more from a resort that claims to provide a “luxury” experience.

Booked a solo trip to get some R&R. This was the perfect place for it. The rooms are beautifully adorned with modern amenities. My room had a soaking tub, balcony, and fantastic unobstructed view of the ocean. I was able to sit on my balcony and watch the beautiful sunset. It was a heavenly experience. The staff were amazing. They were very welcoming, resourceful, and accommodating. I have no complaints about my stay. I will definitely be returning.
