Surf & Sand Laguna Beach

DISCLAIMER: this review is for the Spa only. First I want to say the spa staff were great! My wife and I had one hour couple’s massages. The massage therapists were professional and they did an excellent job. However, my gripe is with the facility itself. The location is perfect, on the pacific coast. However, you cannot see the ocean or beach from the spa. The amenities were lackluster: a small locker room, small steam room, one shower, and a gender assigned hot tub. The grounds appeared out dated and untidy. My $600 in spa services DID NOT INCLUDE POOL ACCESS! I inquired about the pool, and was advised the pool area was for hotel guests only…Prior to booking my spa appointment I was under the impression my wife and I could enjoy pool access, which has an ocean view. The massage services were incredible, however, I feel given the cost of this spa the amenities should have been better. I have spent a fraction less at other spas around the country and have had a more enjoyable experience than here at Surf and Sand.

We are locals and wanted a last minute staycation. Saw some prices on internet and called Hunter at the front desk. He helped me navigate the best rate and helped me get upgrade, plus early check in because I used my AX Platinum Card. Kurt was very helpful with my check in and following through with my request. We had an amazing oceanfront 2 queen studio with the waves crashing below us. Robes, slippers, beach bag, nice snacks/drinks at mini bar, beautiful bathroom, view etc. Loved the balcony furniture to enjoy the sunset. Ate breakfast at Splashes and dinner at Splashes Bar. Food was delicious. Grant at the pool bar was very attentive as was the overall staff at the pool. Food/drinks by the pool were delicious. Gabe at the valet was great too. The service, aesthetics of the hotel, staff, rooms, food/drinks, etc was top notch and worth every cent. We are already planning our next weekend away in a few months. I planned a special Beach vacation to celebrate my daughter’s 21 st birthday only to find out there is zero beach to relax on. The pool was overcrowded and cramped . They were aware of the celebration and did not acknowledge it . The customer service was inexcusable.We left and We were greeted at The Ritz Carlton with champagne , cake and balloons had an incredible experience ! Absolutely no comparison!

My husband & I enjoyed a three night business-vacation at the Surf & Sand. The balcony rooms overlooking the beach & surf are luxurious and the staff friendly & accomodating. Overall, a very elevated & memorable experience!

What an incredible transformation since my last stay! The renovations are absolutely beautiful and have elevated the entire experience. What impressed me even more was that the staff remembered me from my previous visit. That personal recognition made me feel genuinely welcomed and turned a great stay into an exceptional one. Outstanding service, beautiful updates, and a team that truly values its guests—I can’t wait to return.
