Surf & Sand Resort in Laguna Beach, California

Orange County's well-bred Laguna Beach is the backdrop to Surf & Sand Resort, which feels secluded despite its central location. The Pacific Ocean glimmers in newly renovated rooms and suites – a palate of cool whites, beige and aquamarine blends with the view seen through floor-to-ceiling windows. Chic cabanas flank a beachside infinity pool, and original artwork supports Laguna’s thriving art community.

Recline under a goose down comforter as dawn breaks over the ocean. Take a morning stroll to town – stop for coffee at a sidewalk caf and browse the artwork on Gallery Row. Revive with a superfruit martini made with aai spirits and blueberry vodka on an oceanfront patio with glass walls. Finish the evening with Carlsbad black mussels in a vin jaune broth.

On most occasions, checking into a hotel and staying in the room is an ultimate no-no. When there is so much out there to explore, how could you confine yourself to a one room, filled with three other people. Alas, this was the case with Surf and Sand Resort. We checked in, entered our new oasis, and were amazed. The hotel sits right over to the crashing waves of the Pacific, which prompted us to open the door to the balcony, along with the entrance door and let the sound of the waves breaking and the breeze envelope the room. I collapsed in the very comfortable arm chair on the balcony and opened my book, warmed by the January sun. It was almost too warm out there, but I corrected my spoiled self and reminded myself that there are people back east who would sell a kidney to be in my place right then. I read for about an hour, accompanied by the sound of the ocean just beneath me. Heaven. Around 5, the fam decided to go on a walk on the beach, and we discovered a great rock formation just a few hundred yards south of the hotel. The sun setting just behind Catalina Island just in the distance offshore was a special treat. We returned back to the room and ordered an especially delicious artisanal cheese platter for an hour d'oeuvre. We all raved over the raw honey that was served along side the delicious fruits and cheeses. Such a treat. The charming town of Laguna Beach was just a short walk down the road, but if you can get an Uber, it will save you a 20 minute walk. We made our way down there for dinner and had a fun bite to eat. Overall, this place has been one of my most favorite over-night jaunts we have taken in a long, long time. Pro-tip, search Hotwire for hotels in Laguna Beach and cross reference with Trip Advisor on how many people have reviewed it, you'll most likely be able to find it for cheap (relatively speaking) like we did.

We had the absolute best Anniversay overnight getaway at Surf & Sand Resort! Sharon our concierge/check-in attendant helped make our stay at the Surf & Sand absolutely amazing! We had the most beautiful oceanfront room that she upgraded us to & made our stay extra special with several added bonuses that made all the difference. Our room was gorgeous & had the most stunning ocean view. We enjoyed a wonderful bottle of champagne & chocolate dipped strawberries as we watched the stunning sunset over the Pacific Ocean on our beautiful balcony. I can still hear those mesmerizing ocean waves calming every part of our body & soul. Such a romantic overnight getaway! Can't wait to return to the Surf & Sand for our Anniversay next year! Highly recommend this beautiful resort to everyone! Prepare to experience the upmost in luxury!

I recently stayed at Surf and Sand with my boyfriend who was there for a work event. I fortunately got to relax while he was in full day work events from Sunday to Wednesday. Right away, I loved the location as it's right on the beach and how nice the staff was. My favorite part of the hotel in the lounge area which is outside with comfy seats and fire pits. On Sunday they had a bar set-up and a singer. My free time was spent there reading as well as exploring the grounds which included the beach and pool area. The main street has loads of yummy restaurants and cute shops. I can't rave enough about the views from the hotel but also when you dine in other locations and walk around, just beautiful. This place truly made my stay warm and welcoming.

This hotel has all front ocean view rooms. That is the special thing about this hotel. You will not want to leave your room because the view is as good or not better in your room as it is on the hotel grounds. I was on the 8th floor room 231. The room is spacious and has a unique set up. The waves crash hard on the sand all night long so be prepared to bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Splashes Bar is fantastic and I do have to give a special shout out to KIMMY!!! She is AMAZING! So lucky to have such a professional, nice, hardworking server in this establishment. I want to steal her. I cannot say enough about her. Her smile lights up a room and her customer service is by far one of the best I have encountered. I love this hotel and will be back.No doubt.

I️ was visiting with a friend for a night and moved to another hotel. The looks run down. I️ had dinner with my friend and my service dog and it was ok, but the next morning for breakfast they where washing the floors. They had a gasoline can that was covered with paper and that is a hazardous. It smelled so strong we went inside. The server was not friendly with my dog. They said they are pet friendly and they where not. If you’re a dog lover it’s not the place to be. The price to stay there is almost the same as the Ritz Carlton. Then they have their hose that you could trip on. I️ spoke with a man that claimed to be the manager and he was the director of rooms. Then I️ called the management office and the same man returned my call. I️ recommend the Ritz or pacific edge hotel that has a fun bar and restaurant and service is great.
