Surf & Sand Resort in Laguna Beach, California

Orange County's well-bred Laguna Beach is the backdrop to Surf & Sand Resort, which feels secluded despite its central location. The Pacific Ocean glimmers in newly renovated rooms and suites – a palate of cool whites, beige and aquamarine blends with the view seen through floor-to-ceiling windows. Chic cabanas flank a beachside infinity pool, and original artwork supports Laguna’s thriving art community.

Recline under a goose down comforter as dawn breaks over the ocean. Take a morning stroll to town – stop for coffee at a sidewalk café and browse the artwork on Gallery Row. Revive with a superfruit martini made with açai spirits and blueberry vodka on an oceanfront patio with glass walls. Finish the evening with Carlsbad black mussels in a vin jaune broth.

My husband and I just returned from Surf & Sand Resort, celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. It was our first visit to the resort, and it did not disappoint. From the initial welcome at valet and check-in, to the cleanliness and view of the room, to the personal service of each staff member that we encountered, everything was excellent. We never shut our glass door to the balcony and enjoyed the sound of the waves whenever we were in the room. When on the beach, there was always someone available, to offer chairs, umbrellas or food service. I even saw one of the servers get her shoes wet (and with a smile) as she went into the surf to get a guest's order as he stood in the water. We would definitely choose this resort again to enjoy a get-away in Laguna Beach!

Every element of the Surf and Sand is perfect. The location on the beach with the waves splashing as you fall asleep, the kind and conscientious staff, the incredible rooms and amazing on sight bar and restaurant.

Some friends and I recently had the most delightful stay at the beautiful Surf & Sand Resort in Laguna Beach and it was everything we had hoped for and more! The staff greeted us with a warm welcome and were so friendly and attentive. Much to our surprise our room was ready early and we were able to check in at noon! Before sending us off, the staff answered all of our questions and made sure any requests they could attend to were accommodated, and with a smile! They offered us free DVD's to view in our room, made extra keys, gave us directions to our room and acquainted us with a quick layout of the property, nice! Our room was so lovely, very clean and well stocked! We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a larger, higher room, located on the 7th floor of the Towers building which gave us a spectacular view! Our beds were luxurious with lots of large, fluffy pillows and we each had a soft, cozy lap blanket to use when the ocean breezes picked up. There was a rounded table with two chairs in the center of the room and an easy chair just inside the slider. The restroom had two sinks, beautifully adored with a granite counter tops and a shelf above which us ladies appreciate to keep our cosmetics handy. Behind the sink area was a deep sunken tub and the shower and toilet were adjacent but separated with a privacy door. There was a Keurig coffee maker in our room with plenty of pods, creamers (liquid), and ceramic mugs with the Surf & Sand logo (so pretty)! Wine, champagne and drinking glasses were also on hand and in no time we were sipping the bubbly on our balcony...cheers! The refrigerator is fully stocked and well as a cabinet with snacks to purchase. Our luggage arrived super fast and Nicholas brought up two buckets of ice, for us as well, so thoughtful! Out on the balcony there were two comfy chairs and a table awaiting our arrival and staff mentioned extra chairs could be sent up from the pool area for our guests who were joining us later for a visit and a birthday dinner celebration at the famous, 'Splashes' restaurant, on property. It was hard to leave the sanctuary of our room but we decided to venture out for a walk to explore the resort. There are a scattering of fireplaces and fire-pits off to the side of the hotel lobby. The grounds are beautifully kept, so clean and fresh, with lush gardens and amazing ocean views all over the property and on different levels! The pool and Jacuzzi area is enclosed with Plexiglas for protection and has elegant white cabanas over their loungers with tie-backs gently blowing in the breeze giving it a look of sophistication and class. The pool area was clean and inviting and has it's own bar area to order your favorite umbrella libation and I believe snacks, too! . It was suggested while booking our stay that we also book our dinner reservations for 'Splashes' restaurant. They will always try to accommodate you but it's best to make a reservation ahead of time. Our table was delayed only because the previous party was enjoying themselves so much they lingered longer than expected so the head manager, Ante, treated us to an appetizer and cocktail on the house! We didn't mind waiting but he totally took care of us, on his own accord! It was so delish! Thank you Ante! Philip waited on us and everything was perfect! He was efficient and professional with a flare of fun! We sat downstairs right over the ocean, under the warm heat lamps, which I totally recommend and watched as the crystal blue waves swept up on the shore below, at eye level! The Surf and Sand also has it's own private spa called the Aquaterra. We didn't have time for a spa treatment this visit but we did stop inside the Aquaterra Spa gift shop where Ana showed us around and we chatted about the many different products they offer. They have other gift and clothing items to purchase to lavish your loved ones! Be sure to ask Ana for assistance. She was so sweet, accommodating and knowledgeable! Thank you, Ana! I also wanted to send a special thanks to Stuart, one of the night manager, for assisting us when we needed his help, Barbara at the front desk for her sweet disposition and all the staff (I wish I could remember all your names...apologies) who went out of their way to make our stay so memorable! No matter who we stopped to ask for help they were all so courteous and willing to assist! Thank you so much!!! The Surf & Sand is definitely a class act and we will be back again for sure, as soon as time permits!

Booked this room for my son and his Bride for their wedding night and the bride used it before the wedding to get ready. The staff made my Son and his Brides wedding night so special! Amazing service! Complimentary Champagne and Chocolates! Setting up rose petals, Champagne and chocolate strawberries! Beautiful View! What a place! Thank you to everyone from the Concierge to the front desk to room service delivery for making this such an Awesome experience for them! They said Breakfast was wonderful the next morning and they felt so spoiled. That's how it should be on your wedding night!

We had a very nice stay in this lovely hotel. I believe the rooms all look out to the ocean, although we had a bottom floor room and our view was mostly of the pool. (We got a good deal through Hotwire, so I can't complain.) The room was large and tastefully decorated, with lots of light from the big sliding door, and we had an outdoor deck attached. The property had lots of pretty lounging areas and we could walk into town from its location. There were lots of families while we were there. I love children, but they did kind of hog the hot tub.
