On the dreamlike northwest shores of Maui, Montage Kapalua Bay is a place with such extraordinary accommodations and amenities, you simply may never want to leave. The expansive grounds of the Kapalua Resort itself extend from the peaks of the West Maui Mountains all the way to the powdery sands that meet the spectacular turquoise ocean. Naturally formed peninsulas create six azure bays along the coast, and the resort community even features a rare native rainforest, a marine conservation district, and golf courses that also act as natural wildlife sanctuaries. The Montage Kapalua Bay—which include one, two and three-bedroom luxury suites—are situated on a private oceanfront stretch, offering the ideal location to kick back and enjoy your Hawaii vacation. All suites offer a luxe island lifestyle in their vibe, with spacious living rooms, large private lanais, fully equipped kitchens with granite countertops and state-of-the-art appliances, in-suite laundry facilities, and all the tech features you need to stay connected and well entertained.

Poor service with a poorly trained staff. Good facility in need of maintenance. Rooms and housekeeping very good. Food was barely edible. Pool service was non existent. Cane and Canoe, main restaurant was awful with poor service and terrible food. Food at poolside was equally bad. Breakfast-burnt toast eggs over or under cooked, coffee not available, service very bad. Generally employees stood around talking to each other rather than service the guests. This condition prevailed throughout the hotel. The only exceptions were the Valet and Concierge who were both excellent. I would not return unless there is a Management change. Montage should be ashamed.

The Montage is a nice residential style resort in the Kapalua part of Maui. Pros: 1. It has very nice residential units (living, dining, kitchen, laundry, outside deck, beds and baths) with great ocean views 2. It is more like a private residence club vs. a resort. In fact it has both whole and fractional owners as well as resort guests. 3. It is located in the non-commercial and fairly uncrowded Kapalua area 4. It is minutes from the great Plantation golf course 5. It has a beautiful and uncrowded pool area with both kid friendly and adult friendly pools 6. There are pool side food and beverage options 7. There is an excellent fitness center and spa with sauna, steam, various spa treatments, etc. Very nice, spacious, and well-equipped... 8. The Kapalua coastal hiking trail essentially runs right though the resort making it a great option for coastal walks Cons: 1. Like most things in Hawaii these days, staying at this resort as a resort guest is a very, very expensive undertaking. Our 1 bedroom residence room rate was approximately $2300/night + $550/night taxes and fees (with a "free" 5th night)!!! 2. The resort food options consist of the "upscale" Cane & Canoe restaurant and the "grab-and-go" Mahana Market. We found C&C to be upscale in price but the menu to us was limited and the food disappointing. The market has almost no "grab and go" food or coffee options. As a result most of our restaurant meals were off resort, usually in the Ka'ananpali area where there are a number of excellent restaurants (e.g. Merriman's Monkeypod Kitchen) or at the very upscale Merriman's which is next to the Montage. 3. The public Kapalua Bay beach is adjacent to the Montage and complimentary umbrellas and chairs are available to Montage guests. Unfortunately this beach has very limited sand above the usual waterline and below the waterline is sandy for 4-5 feet with jagged rocks and coral beyond 4-5 feet. The beach is hence suitable for snorkeling only. Walking over the rocks and coral is a very bad idea as we found out first hand.

We have stayed at some incredible hotels but the staff here truly make each stay a wonderful experience, from Rick on the Concierge team to Sherry and Michelle at Paintbox, and everyone else on the team. It feels like home (and paradise!) each time we visit, and we do so annually because we love it so much. The resort is next to one of the best beaches to snorkel and swim safely, and is a short walk to Merriman’s. The rooms are immaculate and comfortable and the service is top-notch. Food is great, too!

The Montage Resort was perfect for our family with small kids. It was luxurious as well as accommodating for families. We all had spa treatments and the spa was wonderful. The staff and the service were excellent. The fact they had complimentary hotel cars to take us to dining reservations off the property eliminated our need to rent a car. This was a great added perk. The Paintbox had such fun activities for the little ones (ages 5 and 7) that they wanted to go back every day. All of us thoroughly enjoyed, the beauty and tranquillity of this property. We would definitely recommend it, and we would go back!!!

This is our 4th stay at the Montage at Kapalua Bay, Maui. The suites are spacious with nice balconies for dining and relaxing with stunning views of the ocean. Saw many whales. . The staff is very friendly, helpful, and professional. Nice pool areas with beverage and food service. We will return.
