Reviews for Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

An Ordinary Hotel in an Extraordinary Location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 hours ago

This is a large, somewhat tired hotel in an extraordinary location. You will probably enjoy your stay, but that will be more because of Lake Louise than because of the hotel itself. Service was generally pleasant, but the hotel was extremely inflexible when it came to room changes and guest requests. I booked a one-bedroom suite with a mountain view, which turned out to be more of a parking lot view with a mountain behind it. The room was also directly next to an elevator. Nothing else was available the first night, but the hotel offered to move me to an upgraded room the following night for an additional $1,000. I had booked through Chase, which included a potential upgrade, but the hotel fell back on the familiar explanation that no upgrade was available within the next room category. After an excessive amount of back-and-forth, they reduced the charge to $600. However, the new room was not ready until 4 p.m. the next day, so the move no longer felt worthwhile. They also initially refused to honor the 4 p.m. late checkout benefit. Again, only after a fair amount of haggling did they extend it to 2 p.m. Overall, the hotel did not seem especially interested in doing the right thing—or even simply a nice thing—for the guest. The experience felt very transactional and bottom-line driven. The gym is far too small for a hotel of this size. I also emailed the concierge three times before arriving and never received a response. The food was good enough. I ate at the tavern one night, and the breakfast restaurant was solid. Much of the food-service staff appeared to be college-aged or seasonal exchange workers, and they generally did a nice job. The highlight of the property was the Basin, a newer cold-plunge and sauna experience. It felt modern, luxurious, and completely different from the rest of the hotel. The location, as expected, is exceptional, and that makes up for a lot. A trip to Lake Louise is ultimately about the surrounding area, not the hotel. I just wish the hotel itself lived up a little more to the setting.

A huge shoutout to the incredible Concierge staff on the Gold Level at the Fairmount Château Lake Louise. They completely elevated our entire trip. From the second we arrived, they anticipated every single need. They secured impossible-to-get dinner reservations, arranged seamless transportation to Moraine Lake and Columbia Icefields, and surprised us with an amazing room with a view of Lake Louise. If you are booking a trip here, do yourself a favor and upgrade to the Gold Level. It is worth every single penny. Thank you to the team for making us feel like royalty! 🥂💼

Really lovely room, free upgrade to lake view, nice hotel, nice grounds, expensive nights accomodation - close to 1000 canadian dollars for the night. Difficult to understand how they can charge a 50 canadian dollar resort fee for use of pool (which we never used), and car parking charge also expensive - location location location

Bucket list experience.

We spent three days at the Fairmont Banff Springs and four days at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. This was a bucket list experience for my wife and I along with my two adult children. The Gold Lounge was incredible just like staying at an all inclusive hotel with fantastic food always available. The Gold Lounge allowed us to spend more time together as a family. Emily in the lounge was so kind and outgoing. The fairmont management deserves special recognition for staffing the lounge with the most outstanding attendants. The best hikes are right outside the back door of the hotel. Thanks to concierge for making arrangements to visit Lake Moraine. The pictures look like they are AI generated. Definitely one of the most beautiful places on the earth. Glacial Basin was the icing on the cake. Another incredible experience...the Disney World of spas with the best views of the lake thru 20 foot picture glass windows. The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and Fairmont Banff Springs are the crowned jewels of hotels. Nothing else compares.

At Chateau Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada, the many delights of this mini-vacation began with the views of beautiful Lake Louise from our luxurious room on the Gold Floor. Our days were filled with cross-country skiing, invigorating hikes in the snow, afternoon high tea, evening happy hours, and a fantastic birthday dinner at Poppie's Restaurant in the Chateau! All this was made even more enjoyable by the ever friendly and helpful hotel staff. What was the highlight of this trip? How can we choose - we loved it all!
