Great location with plenty to do. Be sure and ask locals before going on hikes because they weren't marked clearly or often enough and not for novices. We found out the hard way and what we thought was a 4 mile hike was more like8-10 and took us over 5 hours to complete! Without proper provisions, we became dehydrated and exhausted and worried because it was getting dark. The Plumpjack Squaw Valley Inn was great and I would love to go again soon.

My family and I stayed at the Plumpjack for my cousins wedding over the weekend. It was an amazing experience, very friendly staff. Everyone was very welcoming and took care of the wedding guests to the best of their ability. Beautiful location, would definitely stay here again.

Very good. Too rustic for me, but perfect for the location. Service is great, food excellent but rooms are showing their age. Please install elevators. Easy to reach location. Consider I am not outdoor.

Plumpjack's greatest asset is its location in Squaw Valley Village. Other than that, it's a mediocre hotel trying to act like a luxury property. It's not. The rooms are adequate but small in size. The fixtures and bedding are what one might expect from a budget hotel. Perhaps it is unfair to criticize Plumpjack for noise, but it is a noisy place. There was a wedding going on the evening that I stayed there. As one might expect, the drunken revelers stumbled back to the rooms late at night, talking loudly in the corridors, slamming their room doors, and then continuing the party in their hotel rooms. By 2am, I'd had it and called the front desk. They did seem responsive to my noise complaint. That's why they get two stars instead of one. At $350 a night in non-peak season, the Plumpjack delivers poor value for the money. One pays for the brand...and little else.

Pros: - nice pool and grounds - great location in Squaw Valley right next to the Aerial Tram - restaurants and room service for lunch/dinner were very good - Keurig coffeemaker and mini-refrigerator in rooms Cons: - it was nice that breakfast was included but the same breakfast items were offered everyday for three days. Some variety would be appreciated. - although on the surface the rooms were fairly clean, not enough attention was given to furniture and accessories as they were dusty in places not used often. - the bedroom of the Poulsen Suite is right next to the roof where the air conditioning units ran all night. Don't choose this room if you are a light sleeper. - rooms need to be refreshed as they are outdated, but was told that a remodel is coming. - staff wasn't friendly.
