Reviews for The Terrace Hotel
Stayed here for 2 nights. Had a beautiful view of Lake mirror. Beautiful lobby area, with original floors, and chandeliers, windows etc. Great location downtown, and easy to walk to park, cute shops, restaurants, and promenade around Lake mirror. Room was a little awkward(such as bathroom door opened outward, into tiny hallway area), but is a historic hotel, so rooms will not be cookie cutter. Bed was comfortable and plenty of pillows. I ordered a glass of wine from room service one evening, and it was brought up very quickly. I found staff to be excellent. Pastries, fruit and coffee complimentary in morning. Would stay again.
We were here for a wedding. It was very convenient for the events, but I am not a “historic hotel” traveler unless the hotel has updated its systems to accommodate the 21st century. The elevators are tiny. And you wait. And you wait. I am not opposed to using the stairs, but we were on the 8th floor. The room was an adequate size for 2 people. The air vent is positioned to blow directly at the desk and chair and the room would be freezing and then hot while set at the same temperature. The bathroom has no ventilation,rrrt4 the tile is wildly cracked (although pretty) and the grout sloppily applied and reapplied. The tub/shower has opaque glass doors and a hand held shower head option. The water was either scalding or not hot enough. Good water flow. The door to the room smacks into the bathroom door and the full length mirror is behind the room door so good luck with that. The bathroom amenities are slim pickings. I didn’t bring shampoo, face wash, etc because I thought it’s just a weekend. I wish I had. You get Neutrogena and not much quantity or variety. The towels are sometimes plush and sometimes thin and cheap. The bed was comfortable and there were lots of pillows. Electrical outlets were inconveniently placed and there are not enough outlets. Between two of us we had 3 phones, a laptop, iPad and iwatch. We were climbing over and under to charge them. The view was of a very run down city. We could see the lake, but the decaying buildings and parking lots make the view unappealing. There is a fridge and complimentary water. There is more bottled water in the fitness center. Speaking of which, I did use it. There is a treadmill, 2 ellipticals and a bike. All seemed in working order. The wi-if connection is terrible in the fitness center so if you plan to steam video, plan to be frustrated. The weight equipment is circa 1979. There is complimentary coffee, pastry and fruit in the morning in the lobby. The coffee is good. The staff is no better than pleasant and often did not acknowledge guest greetings. Wi-if in the hotel was good. Stay at Hyatt Place. I wish I had. I would have accrued points.

The room in which I stayed was a little small (2 Queen beds). The entry door collided with the bathroom and closet doors. The cleaning staff came every day and did a good job - but kept taking my towels from the floor and not replacing them! I had to finally ask for washcloths on day 3 - and never received them. There is free valet parking but you can also self-park. There are lots of little shops and restaurants in walking distance and the lake is beautiful. Overall a good stay, but I'd likely try another hotel if I visit again.

My husband and I stayed there for two nights, to celebrate a special occasion. Originally we had booked 3 nights, but we did not feel like sleeping another night on a very uncomfortable bed. To me, it felt like laying on a sand bag! We had booked a suite on the 7th floor. The rooms were very small. The AC in the bed room, was very loud and very annoying! The bathroom was not the cleanest! The shower head was dirty and there was a dark spot on the outside of the toilet. Good things we travel with Disinfectant Spray and our own bed sheets. Breakfast was NOT free! I ordered a croissant and was served a MINI croissant which they charged $4.00 for. The croissant bottom tasted soaked and the rest tasted dried out from warming it up. When we checked out, nobody helped us with the bags. The guy just stood there, watching us carrying the bags down the stairs and loading them into our car. Unfortunately, my husband left his toiletry bag hanging in the bathroom. I contacted the Hotel via e-mail, to request the bag being mailed to us, but as of today, I have not even received a reply. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NON EXISTING IN THIS HOTEL! Even though the location is great and Lakeland is a beautiful little city, we will never stay at the Terrace Hotel again.

I like historic buildings, and The Terrace Hotel is definitely a very nice hotel that fits the bill. Right in the middle of downtown Lakeland, it has lots of character, really nice service, comfortable rooms (we stayed in a 2 room suite) and was priced very nicely. I would've paid the same for a run of the mill Hampton Inn or something, but much prefer this type of hotel. Very unique and cozy.
