Reviews for Banyan Tree Lang Co

Paradise

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 13 hours ago

It’s very hard to find the right words to describe Banyan Tree Lang Co. Put simply, from the minute you get out of the car you feel like you are in paradise. The Lagoon Villa we stayed in was spectacular - including a terrace with large private pool. Breakfast was the highlight of the day - the freshest, tastiest food you could wish for. The beach was like you’d arrived in heaven. You could walk for miles on beautiful, soft sand. You are looked after so incredibly well - we have to mention ‘Man’ who was so attentive from the moment we arrived. It is not even up for debate….next time we are in south east Asia, we will be staying here again. Truly magical.

Not sure how this place got 2 michelin keys

We spent 4 nights here in two of their 3-bedroom villas during lunar new year. Coming from Sofitel Hanoi, it was quite a high bar for this hotel to match. Airport pickup was done in a Mercedes E class, which is quite old but got the job done. Our driver was fantastic and showed us his home town Langco on the way to the hotel. We got to the hotel 14:00, and one of the villas was ready and we checked in there, and the whole process took roughly 30-40mins which was a bit lengthy. Probably understandable as we were a big group of 10. Our butler was very kind, patient and very helpful. Lunch at the Vietnamese restaurant was met by lovely service, but the food was a bit lacking to say the least. The restaurant itself was a bit dark and gloomy, and it wasn't the most well kept place ever. The bathroom there however, both gents and ladies, were in a disgusting condition throughout our stay, which was a big minus given the villas are so far away. The included activities were far away in the neighbouring Angsana resort: t-shirt printing was in a small room that couldn't fit everyone in the group, no assist was provided to elderly with walking difficulties. Arranging shuttle to and from was difficult and involved long waiting. Generally communication is a big issue in the resort as a lot of staff don't speak/understand English well, which often resulted in lots of missed items, wrong food order, long waiting times and confusion. At check-out, they wrongly charged almost double of what they should, and they took 25 minutes plus a lot of persuasion, evidence producing to make them understand their error. A holiday should be trouble and worry free, but sadly that's not what you'd get here. You could ask for a buggy for 6 people at the restaurant, show up at the waiting place, wait for 15min, then realise no one actually asked one for you, then you had chase someone down to order one, and then a buggy for 4 would arrive. This is what you should expect if you do come here. Based on the conditions of the resort, the F&B quality, the setting, I'd never understand for my life how this would be a 2-michelin key property, and how the property would score near perfect on google reviews and tripadvsiors. My rating could come across a bit harsh at 3-star as I think it's more like a 3.5 for me. We really did like the staff here and a lot of them are genuinely nice, but this is by far the worst hotel I've stayed in my recent years. It wasn't expensive by any means but equally I could've paid far less for what to be had in the Danang town. Enough to say, I won't be returning to this or any other Banyan tree properties, maybe with the exception of Banyan Tree Buahan in Bali.

The Vietnamese Cooking experience is a must!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We had a peaceful four days at the Banyan tree, mid way through our Vietnam tour! The staff were all very helpful, friendly and professional. Food at the three restaurants, The Water Court, Saffron & Azura was all fresh and delicious. Rooms are all spacious with private plunge pools. A highlight of my stay was attending a Vietnamese cookery lesson with Nho. I was the only one, so had a private lesson and made 3 delicious dishes, which we then ate for lunch! She was patient and very knowledgeable, sharing top tips for me to take home with me.
