Excellent staff and service. Recommend Preferred Club for additional amenities. There's no beach and not much in the vicinity. Very good entertainment. A shout out to the staff who couldn't do enough for us. All are awesome including barman Mauro, Carla Bluewater Grill, The Lounge Serene, Valeska. Ana various places, Laura L, Ruben and Valantin in Portafino Not purpose built for Secrets but a very good resort for the Canaries.

Chilled, relaxing, solo break.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

I stayed for a solo 10 days, as a last minute quick break and really relaxed and enjoyed my time. This is a 5 star graded hotel, and for Lanzarote I would say it is 5 star. I was a preferred all inclusive guest, and I would recommend having the preferred option - if nothing else, just for the use of The Terrace Lounge for lunch. All the food is good, I didn’t really use the buffet, but did try all the restaurants- my favourite being Portofino. The marina is less than ten minutes walk away, where there is a supermarket, (cheap) where you can buy any bits and bobs you may have forgotten and your duty free. There is a market on Tuesdays and Fridays, but the boutique shopping is not great. You can walk for a couple of miles in the other direction, along the cliff tops, and I felt safe doing this early mornings as a female on her own. I use the gym a few times, and this is of a decent standard, and is open 24/7. My one niggle about the gym, is there is no ‘emergency alarm’ if something did happen, and it would be great to have a defibrillator down there….. Rooms are large, clean and airy. No issues here at all. A big thank you to Carolina who did my nightly turn down service, such a happy lady, who, doesn’t speak English, but with the help of google translate we managed to have fun conversations. I don’t speak Spanish, but the staff have excellent English, and helped me learn some Spanish whilst I was there. The ladies at lunchtime at the Lounge, who also do the pool drinks were very friendly and always ready with a cocktail and a smile. And the food was excellent. Victoria and Konte - an amazing welcome, thank you. The entertainment in the Piano bar is only for an hour every night, so if you want discos and nightlife this is not the resort for you. Very much a chilled, relax vibe. Warning - this is where I found I got nibbled on by mosquitos! The food portions I found to be large, you definitely won’t go hungry! I would also like to acknowledge Javier in Portofino who was always happy and would check on me. But - my biggest shout out has to go to Ana in Portofino. She is only a junior, but her dedication, attention to detail, empathetic and sympathetic manner truly shines. If the hotel don’t snatch her up onto a management training scheme - more fool them. Many of the guests I met are repeat visitors, which always tells me a lot about a hotel and its positivity. Plenty of sunbeds, towels etc. Swim up rooms looked lovely, but there are so many nice pools, I don’t think you need this if you are on a budget. If on a budget - go for a smaller room, but with the preferred upgrade as a recommendation. If you do have a problem, tell them! You will get an immediate positive response and the teams will try to resolve it asap. Don’t be a moaner who says nothing and then does bad reviews. If you are looking for somewhere warm, relaxing, good food, chilled vibe - then this is the place for you. Recommendation - get a private transfer back to the airport. Secrets is the first pick up on joint transfer and then you have almost 2 hours going to 19 other hotels, which was frustrating, when the airport is 20 minutes away. But on seeing these other hotels, Secrets definitely blows them out of the water! I hope to return in the future (if they’ll have me). Thank you Secrets x
