Sublime Samana in Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic

Sublime Samana, on the Dominican Republic’s Samana Peninsula is a tropical paradise not known by many, which preserves its existence as an unspoiled treasure. Starfish mating near black coral in the crystal-clear water. Ocean breezes rustle palm trees expertly landscaped throughout the grounds. Elegant white linen cabanas dot the lawn. An open layout invites sunbeams and breezes into the hotel, suites and restaurants, ensuring a natural, beachside vibe every moment. Menus here focus on fish – like the red snapper of Samana – caught just off the beach.

Stumble out of your bed onto your private balcony for fresh breakfast delivered by the friendly staff. Head right out onto the sand with book, sunglasses and towel in hand – no need to do a thing aside from take in the pristine beach and waters. Navigate to the Beachside Grill for lunch, or stay put for the bar’s “cocos frios.” Taste a fresh mango daiquiri. After lunch, let the resort arrange a whale-watching excursion. Upon your return to the shore, motivate into Las Terrenas, the nearby town where the Pueblo de los Pescadores (Fishermen’s Village) offers a collection of open-air seafood restaurants – like Comedor los Chicos, which doesn’t have a phone but does have fish prepared the local way, “con coco,” or with tomato, garlic and coconut milk.

My husband and I spent 4 days here and it was such a dream. Our room was spotless and maintained well throughout our entire stay. Having the full kitchen was such a huge bonus. We brought our own wine and went into town to get produce so, it was really nice to have dishes and the convenience of a full fridge. The breakfast was delicious every single day and the staff were so friendly and kind. All of the fresh fruit was my favorite part and my husband loved how fresh everything was. The pools were gorgeous and well maintained, but the beach was really trumped the pool experience. We spent so much time in the shade of an umbrella, lounging with the waves as your lullaby. It was incredible. I can't believe it was real still.

We loved Sublime Hotel on Coson Beach. The beach is clean, water has no seaweed, and the views are the best in the area.

The name speaks for itself. If you've never been to Las Terrenas I recommend you go and stay in the hotel. It is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms are like mini apartments. I stayed in a 2 bedroom with a master king and another bedroom with 2 queen size beds for my kids. Jacuzzi is on the outside of the room. Pools are gorgeous not deep. The beach is what sells this place and everything in Las terrenas! Beautiful crystal waters. No seaweed. Total tranquility. Not overcrowded. I felt as if I had the entire beach to myself. There are no pushy sales people trying to sell you things on the beach. The resort has a nice restaurant on the beach. The only downside to this place is that it is NOT all inclusive. Breakfast was the only thing included in my stay and I must say it was delicious. The water and drinks were included in the rooms as well but for lunch and dinner you would have to eat in their restaurant. They have 2. The one on the beach and the other on the hotel main area. I ate at the beach one night for dinner. The bill was a little pricey for my liking. The rooms are equipped with a full kitchen and pots and pans. Your other option is to go to the local supermarket and buy your own food to make for lunch or dinner or go out into the town for good and fairly priced eats. I recommend you have a car or some wheels to get around if that is the case. The NOT All inclusive should NOT be a deal breaker though. You will not regret coming to this small piece of heaven on earth!
