Bellagio

A nice, large casino hotel. It was clean, the room was comfortable, nice and quiet. The atmosphere was that of a casino. That would be expected. I know a lot of chain hotels are going to self-check-in. We are accustomed to that at the chain hotels. For some reason, it just seems inappropriate for a place like the Bellagio. Essentially, we parked, walked in, picked up our room keys from the machine and went to our room. We also could use our phones to access the room, but it's nice to also have a key. If you need to know anything about the hotel, you have to look it up on the web site. There was no one to suggest a restaurant, show or other activity. The impersonal nature of the entire process left us cold. We ended up spending most of our time at the Aria Hotel nearby we only at dinner at the Aria restaurants. The Aria was less congested in the lobby, and the upscale shopping area was better laid out and there was a bar in the shopping area. Basically, the Bellagio is a nice, boring place to go.

We had an amazing time at the Bellagio. It was the beginning of the holidays and all the employees made our stay so cheerful ans enjoyable. We had several interactions with J.D. in Elite relations and his services and recommendations made our stay seem so personal and tailored. Kudos to whoever hires and keeps employees like him.

I did not get the rooms I paid for. Our room was not ready and we were moved from the 33rd floor to the 30th and the adjourning Tower King had two Queen beds instead. We also did not get the 2 bedroom with a balcony even though we called and confirmed the request several times and they did not tell us when checking-in.

View from room was excellent. Other than that check in line was too long and digital check in didn't provide location of room or which elevator to use, very confusing at least. Smoking in lower level for casino harsh on non-smokers. Very little face to face with staff anywhere in hotel made it feel overwhelming with no personal touch. Not a fault but was not informed the front walk was completely shut down and blocked off for upcoming race we weren't aware of. Beyond room cost, costs for extras or services quite high. Not upset just bummed on entire experience.

The staff was great. The floral design was magnificent. The rood view was great. The balcony dinner was the highlight of the stay, though the eggs benedict at La Salles comes in at a close second.
