Bellagio

Terrible all around. From the check-in lines to long waits for operator assistance.

I have stayed at the Bellagio before and have always had a great experience, which is why this stay was especially disappointing. I originally tried to book a king room for two nights, September 18–20, through the MGM app, but the app was not working. I ended up calling the hotel directly, and the reservation was booked for me over the phone. After a seven-hour drive from San Diego, my husband and I arrived around 10:00 p.m. Since check-in is around 3:00 p.m., I assumed our room would be ready and there wouldn’t be any issues. When we checked in, the front desk agent told us we would be getting a room with two queen beds. I explained that I had reserved a king. She then walked away without explaining where she was going or what she was doing. I later realized she was trying to find another room for us, which I appreciated, but it would have been nice to simply communicate that instead of leaving us standing there wondering what was going on. About five minutes later she came back and said she had a king room available, but it was a smoking room. We agreed to take it. She then walked away again without explaining anything. We were given a room on the 22nd floor, room 086. Once inside, my husband poured me a glass of water. When I went to drink it, I realized the glass was cracked and chipped along the rim. Thankfully I noticed before cutting my lip, but that was very concerning. Unfortunately, the room itself was also uncomfortable. The air conditioning did not seem to be working properly, the bed was extremely hard, and the pillows were very flat. I have stayed at Bellagio before, and one of the things I always remembered was how comfortable and soft the beds were. This time was completely different. My husband and I both woke up with back pain after getting very little sleep. I also woke up with several bites on my arms and legs. I cannot say for certain whether they came from something in the room or from mosquitoes, but it was still concerning and added to an already uncomfortable stay. We checked out around 5:00 a.m. and explained everything to the front desk. The employee contacted a manager, and the manager did compensate us for one night, which I appreciated. I’m thankful that management addressed part of the issue, but for a hotel with the reputation and price point of the Bellagio, I expected much better—especially when it comes to room cleanliness, maintenance, comfort, and communication at the front desk. Hopefully this was an isolated experience, because my previous stays at Bellagio were much better.

I was celebrating my 10 year wedding anniversary and I got food poisoning eating at Spago. I order the ribeye. I emailed the restaurant’s manager with my complaint and he never responded.

The location and view cannot be beat! The casino is nice too
