Terrible Room Experience - Mildew odors

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Unfortunately, the condition of the room significantly impacted what should have been an enjoyable stay. Upon entering the room, there was a noticeable foul odor. I also discovered boiled eggs that had been left in the refrigerator by previous guests, which immediately raised concerns about the thoroughness of the room’s cleaning and preparation prior to my arrival. More concerning was a persistent strong mildew/musty odor, particularly in the kitchen and under-sink area. I reported the issue to Housekeeping and Maintenance/Engineering multiple times during my stay. Staff came to the room in an attempt to address the problem; however, the odor remained. When I later opened the cabinet beneath the kitchen sink to throw something away, the mildew odor was especially strong, leading me to believe that area may have been the source. I was extremely uncomfortable spending several days in a room with such a strong and persistent odor. What is particularly disappointing is that I brought the issue to MGM’s attention while I was still on property and provided multiple opportunities for it to be corrected, yet the problem was never adequately resolved. Because of the condition of the room and my unsuccessful attempts to have the matter remedied, I ultimately filed a formal Guest Statement with MGM Risk Management/Security on September 6. I have retained a copy of that statement and can provide it, along with any additional information needed to locate the report. I am now requesting that MGM Corporate review the matter, including the service and maintenance records associated with my room during the stay, and advise me of the resolution. Given the condition of the accommodations, the repeated complaints, the inconvenience caused throughout my stay, and the fact that the issue remained unresolved, I would also like MGM to provide appropriate compensation for the affected stay.

The Signature Suite was gold

Enjoyed my stay at signature tower 2. The view of top golf & mgm pool complex was great. The location & ease to get to food, mgm grand pool complex & the strip was good. The one bedroom suite has a full kitchen so you can buy food & reheat leftovers. Huge cost savings. Whole foods was an easy rideshare away at town center. The hotel felt upscale compared to regular mgm side. Enjoyed the tower pool as well. All servers & staff we met were friendly & willing to take care of us quickly. Great vacation

The staff hates you. If you ask them for anything, it's a major inconvenience; don't forget they're doing you a favor by speaking to you.

Ok but definitely not 5*

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We upgraded to a suite for some extra $ and it was worth it. Huge room with two bathrooms and a spacious balcony with lovely views to the pools. Parking is included but it’s a valet system and you’re constantly reminded that gratuity is not included so make of it what you will. Pools close at 6 pm which is unusual and very inconvenient—we couldn’t even use it as we got back at 6:30 pm. The location is relatively convenient—the Strip is about a 20 min walk, the Sphere is about 30 min. The room was clean and spacious with a kitchen equipped with dishwasher, stove, etc. But what for? Given that there wasn’t a single plate, cup, cutlery, let alone pots and pans. Coffee machine with Lavazza pods. The bed was too soft for our liking and the pillows too thick. The balcony would’ve been lovely but with no furniture (not a single chair or a small table?!) there’s not much to do there. We ended up taking chairs out of the room so that we could enjoy our coffee there. Staff aren’t particularly welcoming either—there’s an attitude a lot of them have (that can be eased with tips…). Overall a good accommodation with some room for improvement. With a little more attention to detail this could be a much better hotel.

HORRIBLE

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. We had a very poor experience with virtually everyone we dealt with EXCEPT the valet. The valet service was excellent—although maybe that’s because we arrived in two Lamborghinis. We specifically PAID for a guaranteed 3:00 PM late checkout when we booked our room. We only booked ONE night because the entire point of staying was to get a good night’s sleep, sleep in, and then drive back home the next day. So why was room service ringing our doorbell NONSTOP at 9:00 AM? Is ringing it once not enough to realize the guests are SLEEPING? Thanks for waking us up. Then, just as we were FINALLY falling back asleep, we received a text at 10:30 AM telling us checkout was at 11:00 AM and that our room keys had been deactivated. What?? We PAID for a guaranteed 3:00 PM checkout. Your text service couldn’t fix the issue, nobody answered at the front desk, and we were forced to physically go down to the lobby and waste even more of our morning getting something corrected that should have already been handled. How do you drop the ball this badly on something we specifically paid for? The front desk acknowledged what happened and told us we would be given additional time beyond our paid 3:00 PM checkout because we had been woken up and then forced to waste nearly an hour dealing with MGM’s mistake. Then, at 2:59 PM—BEFORE OUR ORIGINAL PAID 3:00 PM CHECKOUT TIME, let alone the additional time the front desk had just promised us—room service started BANGING on our door nonstop while I was IN THE SHOWER. After everything that had already happened, I literally had to come out of the shower naked to tell them to stop and get a manager. Instead, they brought SECURITY to our room. Ironically, security completely understood what was happening and told them THEY were in the wrong. And somehow it gets worse: while I was showering, THE SHOWER HEAD—WHICH WAS VISIBLY RUSTED—BROKE OFF MID-SHOWER. I had to finish my shower in the bath because the shower was no longer usable. We paid extra for a guaranteed 3:00 PM checkout specifically so we could sleep in. Instead, MGM woke us up repeatedly, deactivated our keys hours before our paid checkout time, made us go to the lobby to correct MGM’s mistake, interrupted us AGAIN before even reaching our original 3:00 PM checkout time despite promising us additional time, sent security to our room, and provided a room where a rusted shower head literally broke off while being used, forcing me to finish my shower in the bath. Absolutely unacceptable for an MGM property. This was not one isolated mistake—it was failure after failure after failure. The valet team was the ONLY bright spot in an otherwise HORRIBLE experience.

We just had the pleasure of staying in a lovely suite at the MGM Grand. It was a joy to be able to enjoy the action on the strip and come back to the hotel for peace and comfort - we loved the jacuzzi tub and plush bed. I will most likely only stay here when I return to Vegas!
