Blantyre in Lenox, Massachusetts

Built as a gift of love for a young wife, the grand estate Blantyre in picturesque Lenox, Massachusetts has retained its intense beauty and sense of romanticism since it was built. Lovingly and painstakingly restored in the early 1980's, this beautiful country house is now maintained as one of the finest hotels in the world. A retreat from the modern world, guests come to view the breath-taking fall foliage, to ice skate and snowshoe through private forests, or to swim, play a set of tennis, enjoy a cocktail over a game of croquet; in short, to live the country estate lifestyle. A spa and fitness center, first class wine cellar and gourmet restaurant are the crowning feathers in Blantyre's cap, and the reason that people come back again and again to celebrate the beauty of New England, and one man's timeless love.

On 117 acres of lawns and woodlands, guests can find peace in nature; and in sun filled rooms decorated in an eclectic mix of period pieces and treasured heirlooms. With fresh flowers, and sinfully soft sofas and chairs, guests can experience the charm and elegance of the gilded era. The Potting Shed Spa offers massage and body treatments, while a gym, four tennis courts, scenic trails for hiking or snowshoeing, a heated swimming pool and even a private ice skating rink, offer plenty of choice for outdoor activity. Dining is a special event at Blantyre, with tables set with sterling silver, fine china and crystal, and in the kitchen under the knowing eye of Chef Christopher Brooks the finest ingredients are used to create a memorable menu. Escape to a finer time, and enjoy the pleasures of a gilded era.

My boyfriend and I spent a night at Blantyre two weeks ago. It was most luxurious and serene. Our room the crimson suite was beautiful and far more lovely than pictured complete with fireplace, tub and shower. Great bath products. The sitting area, bathroom and dressing room were gorgeous. Upon arrival we opted for afternoon tea by the fire. It was lovely. Then they set up the shuffleboard for us as it was unseasonably warm. We then took a walk on the trail around the manor, followed by beautiful music played by their resident pianist and a lavish dinner of wonderful lamb and grilled fish. The next day we used the lovely spa and as we didn't bring suits they loaned them to us allowing us to thoroughly enjoy the hot tub. The staff and service are impeccable. Many thanks to their excellent manager. we also toured many of the other beautiful rooms and were particularly impressed by the toile and blue rooms. We have already booked a return stay for my moms 70th birthday celebration in May. We very much look forward to our return. Thanks to all for a wonderful yet all too brief stay.

When you walk through the oak doors of Blantyre the noise and rush of life stops at the threshold. My three-day stay in the Laurel Suite was magical. The service impeccable. The accommodations elegant, and the joy of listening to pianist, Karen Tchougourian, during dinner, dessert or a late evening over a luscious mug of hot chocolate with Baileys melted away my stress. I caught a stretch of warm winter weather, enabling me to walk for miles along the property trails (the estate is 117 acres) and the surrounding area. Never before have I decompressed in such a short time from the madness of life in Silicon Valley, and I went there for business! I can't wait to return. Coming to Blantyre brings serenity to ones mind and body.

We spent a weekend at the main house in the Toile Room. From the moment you pulled into the driveway, you could feel the warmth of the Inn and the exceptional customer service you were about to receive. The attention to detail by each and every staff member was outstanding. The room was exactly what was described to us and the meals were out of this world. If you love old world charm mixed with luxury...this is your place. Lastly, do not miss ordering a hot chocolate from the menu. I had the hazelnut hot chocolate and it is like none other. Outstanding!! This one is not to be missed.

The staff were incredibly attentive and totally consumed with providing superior amenities. A truly gratifying experience. The attention to detail in both accommodations and provided service was patently obvious. We will be back.

Visited Blantyre again for Valentine's weekend and the special four-course dinner on Saturday night was delightful. The heart-shaped chauteaubriand was unexpected but what a nice touch (see photo attached)! The pastry chef made chocolate/caramel/nut candies to accommodate a strawberry allergy (see photo attached). Blantyre is a unique experience. Spent a lot of time by the cozy fireplace during the weekend snowstorm and enjoyed every minute. Always enjoy spending time with Karen Tchougourian who plays the piano in the music room each night.
