Wheatleigh in Lenox, Massachusetts

Welcome to Wheatleigh hotel, one of America's premier country house hotels, where bucolic charm meets boutique elegance on a glorious countryside in Massachusetts. Once a private villa, Wheatleigh has been spectacularly restored, paying homage to Europe's stunning Italian palazzos, complete with polished Tiffany windows and simple, refined finishes. Clean, neutral tones and original museum quality art adorn the halls and walls of guest rooms, while posh amenities, like in-room fireplaces and antique soaking tubs establish a regal atmosphere reminiscent of the Italian Renaissance. With just 19 artfully appointed suites the superlative staff does not skimp on the lavish details; come see why Wheatleigh is counted among one of The Leading Hotels of the World.

Even dining is an august experience at Wheatleigh; the hotel's refined eatery, The Dining Room is a recipient of the coveted AAA Five-Diamond Award. A glass-enclosed portico glows with a combination of candlelight and natural light, and the view is nearly as delectable as the dining. Acclaimed chef, Jeffrey Thompson's seasonally shifting menus are set off by impeccable wine pairings and are served by Wheatleigh's attentive, yet unobtrusive staff, leaving you to enjoy a sensual, sophisticated dining experience. Also, tucked away in the hotel, The Library provides an equally delicious, but more casual catalogue of cuisine certain to satiate the most discerning palate. With a setting as picturesque as a hilltop palazzo, Wheatleigh offers an idyllic location for weddings, honeymoons, or "just because" romantic retreats. Conveniently located near New York and Boston for those who hope to retreat to the city for shopping or sightseeing, Wheatleigh is the perfect country escape for those seeking romance and relaxation against a breathtaking country backdrop.

Stayed at Wheatleigh over the past winter weekend. The property is stunning and the staff is very friendly and competent. (Special thanks to Julie in reservations) You literally feel like you are transported to Europe when you walk in to the place and the valet takes your car. The rooms are extremely luxurious with high ceilings and comfortable beds. But this is where the fantasy ended for us unfortunately. Wheatleigh allows kids and dogs. We love kids and love dogs but not when spending $1000 a night. The dogs were barking and the kids were running around the hallways. Door were being slammed constantly, btw kids wake up pretty early apparently. There was even a baby monitor sitting on the grand staircase on full blast one evening... We mentioned this upon checkout and was told that we should "come back in the summer, there's less kids" and we should have called and complained while we were there and they would have spoken to the "mother". We were also told we were the only people that complained and that unfortunately our room was sandwiched between a room with a dog and a room with multiple kids. This was truly disappointing. Management didn't offer to compensate or make any accomodation for us for because we didn't bring it up during our stay. So --- my advice would be this --- if you stay at Wheatleigh 1.) Rent the whole place out so you don't have to deal with other peoples kids 2.) Bring your own kids / dogs and bring your friends and act like you own the place 3.) "Stay in the summer" ?!?!? It's a real shame as I could see ourselves returning to this beautiful property if this issues hadn't affected us. It's a 3 hour drive from nyc, the food is top notch and the service is out of this world as well as a stunning transporting accommodation. Hope that helps

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by 3 very friendly staff. They did the normal things like park our car and take care of our luggage, but they also brought us champagne, had use relax in the lobby and inquired about what would make the weekend ideal (local hikes, shops, food interests, etc). They really went down to details (not just which paper we would like in the morning, but what time delivered, and style of coffee with that). The noted my interest in wine and gave us a personal tour of their wine cellar. During dinner, the most friend server, Sydrandt Windell, went out of his way to explain dishes, make sure we were happy with all, and was very helpful with menu choices. Also, he always had a smile and cheery way about him, keeping up with good lighthearted discussions and making us laugh several times. Everywhere we went on the grounds, people knew our names. At night upon returning to the room, not only was there a turndown of the bed, but bottled water on napkins at bedside, chocolates, all clothes picked up and neatly placed on the chairs, shoes placed in a row on the hearth of the fireplace, lights low in the bathroom, all shades drawn for the morning, tv remove placed on the night table, etc. Just seems like anything typical of a great stay was thought of ahead of time and done so we really didn't have to ask for anything; moreover all the touches just added to the feeling of being well cared for and thought about. Allowed us to feel super special. The general manager, Marc Wilhelm, was about as welcoming and down to earth as any I've ever met. He clearly wants your experience to be remembered, and without any pretense. It is all about relaxing and fulfilling your needs as to what you want out of the experience. We felt VERY welcomed, and very well cared for. Also, the grounds are gorgeous, the rooms beautiful and huge, and the dinner and dining room phenomenal. It is clear why this is rated as a leading small hotel of the world. I absolutely agree with that rating/ranking and would highly recommend this as a romantic get away experience for anyone looking to relax and be well cared for. Kudos to all the staff at Weightleigh for making the stay remarkable and achieving an extraordinary atmosphere. We will be back for sure.

Great weekend getaway from Brooklyn area. Loved the dinner and the breakfasts. Enjoyed Rockwell re-creation for the Christmas season outside Red Lion Inn and the Clark Institute Museum. Very impressed with Wheatleigh staff, accommodations and grounds. Highly recommend.

The most beautiful hotel out of dozens of hotels I've visited. Everything is perfect here: rooms, service and of course the delicious food! If you are looking for a quite escape, no doubt that this is the right place.
