Reviews for The Inn at Hastings Park
We were greeted upon stepping on the property and personally shown to our room. There wasn't a single detail left out. This property is beautifully appointed and in a great location, but you won't want to leave!
We stayed at the inn last summer and returned again last month but our four night stay this time was average. I had not intended to submit a Trip Advisor review but after I contacted the owner using her email address to express my concerns and received no response after waiting seven days, I changed my mind. Candid feedback was offered with good intentions in the hope that our next stay would be like the first one. Ignoring guest feedback certainly seems out of character with the innkeeper values espoused by their Relais & Chateaux designation (i.e. Courtesy, one of the "five Cs"). In general, our suite was nice and the hotel staff was polite but during our stay, certain problems weren't corrected and we never saw the owner on the premises. There were a few security issues with the exterior entry door to the renovated barn that housed our suite (inoperable lights & security door wouldn't close to locked position), a broken shower faucet for two days, the room could have been cleaner (dusty & dirty in a few areas), and multiple times the dining room botched my simple breakfast order (same order wrong 3x). We return to Massachusetts on an annual basis to see family/friends and hoped to make The Inn at Hastings Park our default accommodations. Given our latest experience, we might look elsewhere.
Love this place......you feel so welcomed there....the staff is so friendly & always smiling. the Inn is clean & comfortable.....The restaurant is the best ever......great food, according to season....we had chocolate covered strawberries & champagne brought to our room. So good....I would recommend this place in a heartbeat.....not cheap, but well worth it... So much to visit in Lexington.....so much history........

We decided to spend a weekend in the area to meet up with local friends and see a part of the Boston area that we hadn't visited in years. Lexington has the advantage of being both pretty close to Cambridge without the action (and sometimes confusion) of Harvard Square but also not far from North Shore cities like Salem, etcetera. This Inn looked like a good option-- with our friends we had a great dinner in the hotel's restaurant and we took a daytrip to Salem. But there were also some snags in service at the hotel-- the room we had was very elegantly furnished but there was no desk or writing surface. Turn down service in the evening did not include anything special (a chocolate on your pillow, a bottle of water on the bedside table) or involve changing already used towels. They didn't even turn down the bed linens but simply straightened them up! We also found the public area (living room) to be something less than what we would have expected in an inn of this quality. Yes, we might return but only if we plan on visiting with local friends.

The only way this stay could have improved was if we had stayed longer. We attended a family friend's wedding nearby and found the inn's website. We were pleased to find a Relais & Chateau property so nearby the wedding, and having stayed in many - expected a level of comfort and hospitality. Our expectations were exceeded in every way. The room was really luxuriously furnished and extremely private and comfortable (a junior suite in the "barn" building. A small delay checking in because the room was not yet ready was accommodated with such caring hospitality and genuine concern we have rarely experienced. And it was a short delay - but the staff was actively managing the situation and keeping us apprised of progress knowing we had a short amount of time in which to check in and change for the wedding ceremony. We were also pleased with the elegant restaurant that served breakfast the next morning and will return to experience dinner sometime. We look forward to returning to the Inn at Hastings Park when we have more leisure time to enjoy the area and the inn's features more fully......as well as the incredibly friendly, professional, and caring hospitality they practice to great effect. Do not hesitate to stay here.
