Reviews for Pestana Palace Lisboa

Beautiful experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 11 hours ago

I recently stayed at Pestana Palace Lisboa with family extending three generations , and overall, it was a memorable experience that I would still rate as 5-star ⭐. The hotel’s historic architecture and features are truly exceptional. From the grand high ceilings to the beautifully preserved palatial finishes, the building itself creates a unique and elegant atmosphere that sets it apart. The ambience throughout the property is शानदार—calm, refined, and full of character. What really stood out was the staff. Every member of the team we encountered was courteous, attentive, and genuinely eager to help, which made our stay even more enjoyable. That said, there is some room for improvement—particularly with the food offering. As a group of six vegans, we found the options somewhat limited. Although the team made a sincere effort to accommodate us (and we had even provided our dietary requirements in writing beforehand), there is clearly an opportunity for the hotel to deepen its understanding of vegan cuisine and provide more thoughtful, well-prepared options. I don’t want to overemphasize this aspect, however, because what we will truly take away from our stay is the beauty of the building, its rich historical charm, and the warmth of the staff. With a few improvements to their vegan offerings, this hotel could deliver an even more outstanding experience.

Pleasant stay

Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The grounds and palace were spectacular… very beautiful. In our room, we found a few things to be in need of repair (broken tile on the balcony, ripped blackout curtain, AC not working properly.) The outdoor pool was a vibe. They went the extra mile by bringing us complimentary fruit platters every night. But we felt the staff at brunch could have been a bit more attentive (filling water glasses.) Convenient location.

Charming spa-like hotel inside city of Lisbon

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

A charming former palace located a 15 min car ride from the old town. Very friendly service, spacious rooms, a large buffet breakfast, and a park-like pool area earns it the full score. A lovely indoor pool makes up for a decent but not excellent gym. Well worth a visit.

Far from a 5 star hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

The hotel is undeniably beautiful, but unfortunately, the service did not meet expectations. Upon arrival, there was a long line for check-in, which took quite some time to get through. The initial room we were given was very dark and faced the street, which was disappointing. We chose to upgrade to a garden-view room, but this came at an additional cost of €32 per night. One evening, we decided to have dinner in the bar area. However, after sitting there for over 25 minutes without being acknowledged—no greeting, no offer of drinks—we found the experience unacceptable and chose to leave. There were a few other minor issues as well, but overall, for a five-star hotel, the level of service was far below what we expected.

Missed the mark

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

We really wanted to love the Pestana Palace in Lisbon. The property itself is beautiful. The rooms were very clean and the bed was comfortable. However, the service lacked some attention to detail. We requested that the bed in our room be converted to a single mattress twice. It never happened during our stay. Another small point, but still somewhat annoying is that the shower wash pump container did not work. Again, we mentioned this twice and it was not fixed during our stay. The housekeeping staff just left it taken apart in the shower - which is how we had to use it. Breakfast was very good. Service in the bar was quite slow. It's possible this was because they were not yet fully staffed for the season, but it was still bothersome. We selected this hotel because it was close to the Congress. It is not really close to any sights in Lisbon. You have to Uber to anything you want to see or do. If we are ever in Lisbon again, we would stay elsewhere.
