I have been here only a few hours but this place is breathtaking! The palace is old and the rooms area is very modern. It's amazing what they have done here. The checking was very fast and the room is clean and well distributed, lots of space

If you are looking for a retreat or an escape, and plan to spend a majority of your time on property then definitely stay here. If you plan to spend your time being a tourist and hanging around the old city I felt this hotel was a bit far from all the action of Lisboa. The pool and onsite breakfast were very nice, but again we were away from the property the most of each day and didn't fully take advantage. So depending on how you plan to spend your vacation this hotel might be perfect for you.

We had a lovely four days at the Pestana and would return. It is really two hotels in one: a beautiful place for all the dining and shared spaces and the guest rooms which are in separate more modern part of th hotel. I slept well and made full use of the spa. I also enjoyed that it was in a quiet neighborhood 15 mins from Lisbon. Belem itself is a an interesting area with lots to do. Lisbon is amazing but a bit too crowded and noisy for me.

Pros: - Friendly, helpful staff. - The main building where the lobby and the restaurant is is lovely. Cons: - What you see (and most likely swayed by) in the photos is actually the interiors of the main building where the lobby and the restaurant is. Sure, it’s charming and lovely, but our Superior Garden View Room (and most, if not all other rooms) was actually located in a different building, which was boring, drab and resembled a typical run-off-the-mill big hotel chain property (think DoubleTree), and it wasn’t fresh either. - There are loud low flying planes right above the property. - There was a line for breakfast (to quote the receptionist, “a long wait for larger groups, a 5-10 minute wait for a couple of people”) - a first for us (in every hotel where we ever stayed we have always always immediately seated for breakfast). Overall, given the rates that this property charges (especially as compared to other Lisbon hotels), not a good value at all.
