Arrived in the hotel around 7.00am, after a 10 hour flight. They kindly let us have an early check in at around 11. Everything normal there...went for a walk around town, came back early since we were all tired. That´s when things start going downhill...at 21.20, my mother in law gets house keeping knocking at the door...sent them away because she was really tired and didn´t need to have their beds changed anymore. (I think the hotel had plenty of time to do so, instead of trying to do it at 21.20). She had a hard time falling back asleep. The next day, I get house keeping knocking at my door at 8.20am...was in the bathroom then...asked what they wanted, they said house keeping, and as I opened the door, surprise...no one was there! They told me later there was a fire simulation, called the front desk, and they didn´t know anything about it...later on, when I went to the front desk and asked about it (the lady that was there couldn´t stop laughing and had a grin on her face as she talked to me, which really bothered me), they said they actually got a fire signal from my room (they said it could´ve been the steam from the shower, even though my window was open at the time, and it´d be impossible to have the alarm go off). if there was a fire signal from my room, shouldn´t someone have waited to see what was going on??? anyways...the day we left the hotel, no one to carry our luggage out to the car, and when the only nice lady in the hotel, Telma a door assistant, found someone to help us w/ 6 luggages, the guy looks at us and says "but you guys are all taken care of", just because our luggage was outside, near the car... I have never seen a "5 star" hotel with no assistance at the door...usually no one would be at the door, and when they were at the door, they´d just be talking amongst themselves and looking at us like they´re just doing us a favor, instead of working there. after Tivoli, we went to Amarento, and stayed at a nice real 5 star hotel called Hotel Casa da Calcada, which showed what a 5 star hotel really is all about. the Tivoli is pretty nice, nice rooms and all, but the service really sucks!! Don´t recommend Tivoli avenida liberdade. There should be nice real 5 star hotels in Lisbon, but not this one. Just to be fair, we did get tarts as a form of apology from the manager.

Comfortable, clean hotel with wonderful cordial service The Tivoli lived up to its 5 star rating. Our room overlooked the Avenida da Liberdade and was quiet, clean, well appointed and thoughtfully designed. The King size bed was comfortable and included an assortment of pillows to meet our varied needs. The bathroom had sufficient shelving to easily store toiletries, a roomy shower with choice of two shower heads, luxuriant soft large bath towels and a lighted make-up mirror which doubled as a night light! Large closet with plenty of drawer space, in room safe and a hair dryer. Wi-fi worked without any issues. Great lighting in the room including task lighting. Desk offered a nice work surface. Sufficient electrical outlets for recharging phones. Every employee we encountered during our four-day stay was professional and pleasant. The buffet breakfast had a variety of items including, pancakes, sautéed mushrooms, scrambled eggs, baked beans with tomatoes, yogurt, oatmeal, sausages, fresh kiwi and other fruit, breads, pastries and an assortment of juices, tea and coffee. The Tivoli is an easy stroll to the city center. It is in a great location with a number of nearby restaurants that offered wonderful Portuguese food to locals and tourists. The spa in the lower level of the hotel offers a large exercise room with treadmills, elliptical machines and recumbent bicycles as well as free weights and deluxe locker rooms. Massages are available for a fee, and worth it! We arrived on an international flight in the mid-morning prior to the 3pm check in time. A young woman on the hotel staff politely asked us to wait in the lobby while she checked to see if a room might be available for us to check in early. She told us it would take her about an hour or so before she would be able to get back to us. The bellman tagged and secured our luggage while we waited in the beautiful lobby. In about an hour, we had our room key cards and shortly thereafter, one of the bellman delivered our luggage to our room. The Tivoli excels at customer service. Highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel is conveniently located, room is a bit small, but enough. Rooms facing the yard are really quiet. Bed is comfortable, breakfast has good variety. You can have it on 09th floor with great view. Staff is friendly and helpful. Overall experience is positive.

I was photographing a conference in Lisbon so didn’t choose the hotel myself, but it was fantastic! Clean, lovely staff, great breakfast - by the third morning my waiter had learned exactly how I like my coffee and was there with it as soon as I sat down. Highly recommend!
