The Capital Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas

With palatial accommodations steeped in Southern tradition, the Capital Hotel has earned its renown as "the front porch of Little Rock." Its grand opening in 1870 was indeed grand, with the first electric light fixture installed in a hotel in the South and an elevator massive enough to carry a horse. Since then, this Arkansas institution, a Preferred Boutique property, part of the Preferred Hotel Group, has served as both a welcome respite with luxurious rooms and delectable cuisine and a doorway to the illustrious historic monuments and dynamic contemporary culture of the region for business and leisure travelers alike. Ninety-four lavish rooms, including 15 semi-suites and four suites, envelope guests with designer linens, free Wi-Fi and, from most windows, expansive views of downtown Little Rock. Dine on-site in the elegant Ashley's restaurant or socialize with the city's movers and shakers at the Capital Bar and Grill. Both feature Chef Lee Richardson's "New Americana Cuisine," menus handcrafted from local and seasonal ingredients with cutting-edge techniques.

Just steps from key business venues, including the Statehouse Convention Center, and vital local landmarks, such as the Clinton Library, the Arkansas Arts Center and the Historic Arkansas Museum, The Capital is a hub for visitors seeking the ultimate Little Rock experience. Posh boutiques and eclectic eateries can be found just outside the door, and River Market, the city's vibrant entertainment destination, is a pleasant walk down Markham Street. Visit the Downtown Fitness Center right across the street from The Capital for a rejuvenating workout—admission is complimentary to hotel patrons. Active guests will also find plenty of adventure in the outdoors, from golf and tennis to hiking, fishing, hunting and kayaking - the concierge at The Capital will be happy to arrange half- to full-day excursions. Whether business or pleasure brings you to the city, the "Grand Dame" of downtown Little Rock is a "capital" headquarters for your stay.

One of the nicest, hotels we’ve ever stayed! I would recommend one of the suites. We had the mini suite and it was a large, very comfortable room but had beautiful, European style furniture. We entertained guests one evening with wine and cheese. the staff was very accommodating and polite. One of their restaurants, One Eleven, is a must for breakfast and at least one dinner. Our son lives in Little Rock and this will be our “go to” place when we visit.

So I have stayed at the Capital Hotel many times and it is consistently the most comfortable, beautiful and perfect hotel for me. This past visit I had the opportunity to meet Lindsey Ritchie their guest services concierge and she is simply amazing in her position. Lindsey has one priority which is to personally handle anything that comes up and to personalize the Capital Hotel experience.Lindsey has taken concierge service to a whole new level. She has consoled grieving guests and sent special cards to them. She has designed incredible birthday parties and helped guests find unique gifts for a spouse. Lindsey knows I am a regular guest and escorted me to my room and had my keys ready as I walked into the lobby. This is service that goes way above anything I have seen in any other hotel. The Capital Hotel continues to amaze with their staff from Lindsey, to Billy, to Eizel, to Gene, to Alea, and all of the other bell, valet, restaurant and front desk staff.

I came to Little Rock for a conference & chose here to stay due to the excellent reviews & the historic nature of The Capital Hotel. If you like modern luxury, top tier customer service, and the feel of the turn of the century, you know that old world charm, you’ll adore this hotel. It was built in 1870, has an elevator big enough to accommodate a horse & carriage, and all of the modern amenities you’d expect at the Four Seasons. The service matches the Four Seasons too by the way. Every single team member has service & friendliness at the top of their priorities. I thought maybe the water pressure in the shower would be weak, especially on the 4th floor, but it was very good pressure and very hot too. We were in a king room. The only negative I could say would be the size of the tv. It was quite small; if it wasn’t a football weekend, I likely wouldn’t have noticed so much, haha. Anyway, this hotel is just about perfection. I have no idea if my life will ever place me this way again, but if it does, I’ll stay here for sure.

Came to town with Mother and 8 yr old son to enjoy a quick escape from the daily grind. The Capital Hotel was truly lovely. Fresh cut flowers and live orchids decorated the stately lobby and second floor lounge. Beautifully appointed furniture and stained glass gave a historical richness to the Hotel. The customer service was top notch. We needed some special accommodating due to some health issues; our needs were met with ease. We will be back and hopefully soon!
