The Oberoi Beach Resort, Lombok

As a family of four, we've been fortunate to stay at many outstanding hotels around the world. We arrived at The Oberoi Beach Resort, Lombok with very high expectations, thanks to its exceptional reputation. Somehow, it still managed to exceed every single one of them. The true luxury here isn't just the beautiful setting or the spacious villas—it's the people. Every member of the team made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived until the day we left. Their kindness, warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail were simply extraordinary. Every request, no matter how big or small, was met with a smile and a genuine desire to help. If we could rate the service alone, it would easily be 12/10. Travelling with children often comes with unexpected requests, but nothing ever seemed like too much trouble. The team was available around the clock, always anticipating our needs and making our stay effortless. That level of care is incredibly rare, even among the world's finest luxury resorts. We also loved the complimentary experiences. Snorkelling equipment was provided free of charge, allowing us to explore the beautiful reef just off the beach, and horse riding was another memorable highlight for our family. These thoughtful touches made the stay feel even more special. The dining experience deserves its own paragraph. Every meal was outstanding, whether we chose authentic Indonesian dishes or international cuisine. The variety was excellent, but even more impressive was the quality. The food consistently reached a level we would normally associate with a one Michelin-star restaurant. Every breakfast, lunch, and dinner became something to look forward to. If there is one area where the resort could become even better, it would be through a careful modernization of some rooms and facilities. We sincerely hope they preserve the beautiful colonial Indonesian island character that gives the property so much charm, while introducing a few modern conveniences such as key-card room access and subtle technology upgrades that today's luxury travellers appreciate. The Oberoi Beach Resort, Lombok is one of those rare places where luxury feels authentic rather than staged. It's not the newest resort, nor the flashiest—but it delivers something far more valuable: heartfelt hospitality that you simply cannot manufacture. For our family, this was a perfect holiday and one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. A very well-deserved 10/10. We recommend The Oberoi Beach Resort, Lombok without the slightest hesitation and sincerely hope to return one day.

We have just arrived back from an amazing stay at the Oberoi Lombok. We first went there in Sept 1998 and returned nearly 28 years later. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and always with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately the location was nearly 1.45 hours from the airport but well worth the journey on arrival as the grounds of the hotel were stunning. Very good varied menu and excellent entertainment at night. The accommodation was lovely with fruit and plenty of bottled water. There was also a couple of biscuits by the bed every night—just little touches but they mean a lot. There was no rush for sunbeds as there were plenty and we were well cared for every day with little touches. Just a minor point, the website mentions a strict dress code but men were wearing shorts, t shirts, and short sleeved shirts in the evening. We have been lucky to stay at quite a few nice hotels over the years but we feel this hotel is the best and the service second to none.

We stayed for 6 fabulous nights at the end of our Indonesia holiday. We stayed in an ocean view pool Villa which was amazing! The pool was a proper sized pool not a plunge pool within a lovely private garden. There was another patio at the back facing the sea. The bedroom/lounge was massive and beautifully decorated as was the bathroom. Everything was there to give you a luxury experience, nice toiletries, lots of big fluffy towels, lots of bottled water and other beverages. Housekeeping was excellent as was room service. The food throughout our stay was first class, big selection, great flavours and beautiful presentation. We also dined once at the neighbouring hotel, Lombok lodge which was also excellent (I’ve reviewed separately) The staff were all so helpful and friendly. They couldn’t do enough for you. Sayu by the Sun loungers works very hard all day and engages with the guests looking after everyone. We arranged a trip through the hotel to visit Gili Air which was lovely. My only 2 points to highlight to anyone reading are firstly about the main pool. It Doesn’t have a shallow end and the depth is 1.5m so if you want to swim, great but if you want to chill and cool off - maybe have a chat.. then it’s a no.. unless you’re very tall I guess. We saw kids every day just staying on the pools small steps.. and the beach is tiny as in really tiny! If you want a beach you can stroll along this isn’t the place for you. Back to all the positive stuff, there are so many lovely touches here from the sorbets and fruit juices brought around to the themed evenings - buffet, bbq musicians and so on. We played croquet daily too which was fun. We had the most fantastic time and have stayed in other Oberoi hotels in India and Bali and all of them are wonderful.

This was our second visit to Tanjung ,the first having been to the nearby Tugu,but this time we wanted to know the Oberoi for staying the last week of April 2026. Upon arrival, we were assigned the wonderful Garden Pavilion No. 135. Although it was their entry-level room category, it was impeccable, spacious, and very comfortable, featuring a great king size bed, powerful air conditioning,a large bathroom with great shower and nice amenities, . Everything was built using high-quality materials and designed with great taste.The gardens......I have a large one at home that I tend to personally, so I really understand how much work it must be to maintain the property's vast grounds in such condition and I wanted to mention that. The à la carte breakfasts were excellent, offering numerous delicious and beautifully presented Western and Indonesian options. The service provided by the entire staff,both in the restaurants and throughout the hotel,was outstanding. Some staff members were initially concerned when we declined the beach towels offered daily or some house keeping as we did so for environmental reasons. They served as many young coconuts as you wanted while you were at the beach or the pool. The pool water was warm,just the way we like it,despite the occasional cloudy day. The beach wasn't very large, but it was more than adequate for a good swim, and there was a beautiful reef running along the shore that was easily accessible from a jetty. In short, there were so many details it would be hard to list them all; it was a wonderful stay, and we will certainly be back soon.

Another amazing trip ( our 3rd) at the Oberoi Beach Resort in luscious Lombok. This place is a true patch of paradise that is fabulous for couples seeking a quite romantic escape away from the hustle and bustle of life. The Staff are all so kind and helpful and the rooms are just beautiful & large with so many special touches. There’s plenty of private space to flop out during the day under the shade of a palm tree, delicious food, cracking cocktails and amazing massages at the spa. It’s a switch off from life escape.
