About the Hotel

Tucked away on a tree-lined court between Harrods and Sloane Square, Eleven Cadogan Gardens was the first of London's private luxury town house hotels. This refined boutique property, which occupies four stately Victorian houses, maintains a very English and understated style in traditional wood-paneled guestrooms hung with oil paintings and furnished with antiques. Here you'll cross into a unique atmosphere, where a butler discreetly meets you at the door, and instead of registering, you're invited to sign a leather-bound visitors' book.

Reviews for 11 Cadogan Gardens

A Haven in Chelsea

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I'm in a terrible position... I want to applaud 11 Cadogan Gardens but I also want to keep it to myself!!! What to do!!! Comfort, Luxury, Decor, Attention to Detail in every regard. My room was a haven from the first moment I walked into it. Each night - no matter what time I left for a stroll, drink, or dinner - I came home to find the room perfectly turned down for the evening with curtains drawn and soft lighting to see me home soundly... like magic - housekeeping is absolutely first rate here. All the furnishings were top shelf, the bed was a dream with the softest linens and plenty of high quality pillows. The bathroom was sensational. The Bar. The Lounges, restaurant, I could go on and on. The proximity to fine dining, exploring, and outstanding shopping was first rate. And everything worked! The lights, the radio, the TV, the WiFi, the Nespresso machine, everything functioned seamlessly. And as if all that weren't enough, the staff. The staff, and I mean every single person I encountered, was thoughtful, kind, attentive, professional and yet somehow so down to earth and personable. I didn't want to leave and can't wait to return. Bravo.

Could be good

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Weekend stay in a junior suite. Arrival and no porter so had to drag bags into hotel, same at check out with guy sitting behind desk in hallway just watching us drag bags again. Check-in could best be described as awkward, it seemed no-one spoke English or could understand. Rooms are "homely" but old and in general all needs a serious refurb, curtain came off, dusty under bed and marble floor in bathroom is stained and needs addressing. Breakfast is good but can be a little lengthy as it is open to the public too. Icing on the reception cake is that we also had an issue on check-out with reception charging our bill to another card (we had two rooms) and then an issue with refunding the deposit which was also compounded gain the lack of clear English, spent 20 mins trying to get a simple thing sorted. This place could be a real gem, but the basics are missing.

Magnificent hotel a few minuts from Harrods. Ideally located in the heart of Chelsea for discovering London and shopping. We recommend the breakfast and especially the bar; Excellent service. Do not hesitate to walk around the neighborhood : we will come back with our children

Elegance and Exceptional Value

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

The hotel is a delight - period elegance, antique lift, and bedroom windows that actually open! Attentive and helpful staff. Did not have breakfast or other food/drink as I was in London for a fasting blood test - but will definitely explore the facilities a little more on next visit. Exceptional value for Central London.

A Disappointing Christmas at Cadogan Gardens

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

We wrote the General Manager, Ian Richardson, directly but had no response. We're offering the letter as our review. Dear Mr. Richardson: We stayed at 11 Cadogan Gardens from Dec 22-27, 2023. We were initially booked into Room #007. Our first morning there we were woken up at 5:30 a.m. by loud banging noises that lasted until 9:30 a.m. The gem of your staff is Mr. James Harrison, who did everything he could to be of assistance. He kindly moved us to Room #102 after deducing that the banging was likely coming from an employee entrance door beneath our room as staff arrived for work. Sadly, we missed Mr. Harrison’s professionalism after that point as he wasn’t scheduled to work for the rest of our stay. We loved our new room and settled in, only to hear more door slamming noises starting the evening of Dec 23 and recurring at 8:30 a.m. on Dec 24. Were these noises coming from fellow guests or housekeeping? We didn’t know and when we spoke to the desk staff, we were told, “This is an old hotel with heavy doors.” We had a single quiet night from Christmas Eve until Christmas morning. One quiet night out of five. The door slamming returned on the evening of December 25 and continued through the end of our stay. We also noted other troublesome incidentals that taken individually would not be noticeable but in aggregate are definitely not the signposts of a five-star hotel: • No room service menu in the room. • We were offered a daily newspaper, but it was never delivered to our room (we understand most newspapers do not publish on Christmas or Boxing Day). • A filled trash can was not emptied by housekeeping. • Shower gel was not replaced by housekeeping, leaving us to bathe in shampoo. • When inspecting the room before checking out, we found used slippers and a sock (not ours) under the bed. • Ordered soft-boiled eggs for breakfast; they arrived hard-boiled. Much of the charm of 11 Cadogan Gardens is its age and history. Let us repeat that we loved Room #102 and we sincerely appreciated Mr. Harrison, but overall were left disappointed by our stay. Under the conditions we experienced, we wouldn’t be inclined to recommend 11 Cadogan Gardens to others.
