Blakes was a very rare stay in London where the staff were always there, calm, welcoming and attentive, without being interruptive. The decor, as you would expect, was great and every area was as it should be. I had breakfast both days but the choice here was excellent, the restaurant at breakfast is really nice and coffee great. The bar, pre-dinner, is buzzy and has a good atmosphere. It is an excellent town house hotel and a welcome change from the mega hotels of the West End.

I chose to stay at Blakes Hotel because of its beautiful decoration and the fact that it belong to the Design Hotel company. The thing I loved the most was the fact that it is a luxury property but at the same time it has a young and laid back vibe. I loved its simplicity and the decoration. The breakfast and brunch was delicious although I observed that the sequence of service was not correct. I would first get the main dish and then my coffee. Personnel was so friendly and smiley and we had their full attention which made it a quite unique experience. The rooms are fantastic , you just want to spend the whole day in the comfortable bed and enjoy the mini bar which is supplied by various local products. I was impressed how the bathroom floor was heated which is something I have never seen in a hotel before. The only thing is that wifi is quite slow however I didn't mind as I was there for a romantic getaway. I would definitely go back.

I wanted to love this hotel. Unfortunately that was not the case. On a Friday night we were told we weren't able to access the bar for an hour. We then ordered a bottle of wine which took one hour to arrive. The call from the bar never came. The house keeping service would barge in with no notice at odd hours (430 and 630 pm). We went to the hotel Bar and waited 30 minutes for a cocktail. For almost 1000 pound for two nights I could get better service at the holiday inn for one quarter of the price. It's completely unacceptable. Terrible terrible service. Switching to the W tomorrow.

My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon in London and stayed at the Blakes for 4 days. From a courteous staff perspective (bar, restaurant, concierge, front desk, doorman), it is one of the best! From the first day to the last, my wife and i were treated like friends of the family. It is a big scene on Thursday/Friday/Saturday nights, but still very quiet during the evenings. (we were on the 3rd floor). To mention a few of the notable staff, we would like to give special thanks to Martin, Shannon, Pepe, and Davida. I would highly recommend a stay here. It is walking distance to great shopping and restaurants. Thanks again to Blakes for making our honemoon experience wonderful.

Tiny room. Despite request for early check in, not allowed in room on arrival although it was said to be ready. On return hours later, the bags were not in the room. After calling the desk, It took several calls for the bags to be located. Despite Starwood category and website pictures, the acccomodations and service are mediocre. Best to avoid.
