I had the pleasure of visiting for 2 nights. This is a hotel my dear friend Brian Crawford introduced me to and the Library Suite was his favourite. We spent many a evening in the bar too whilst he was still with us. Whenever I visit I always have a scotch for him. This time however I look forwards to returning before Christmas and only hope I'm not told off by picking up a candle and inhaling for a better aroma. Let's hope not. Keep up the top job!

My recent stay at Blakes was a complete revelation. I have stayed some of the best hotels in London - including Claridge's, The Berkeley and The Ritz - but never have I felt so at home in a sumptuous 5-star hotel that I did not actually want to leave. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was welcomed like an old friend. My room surpassed my already high expectations, the staff were amazing - brilliantly professional, and warm, and completely lovely - nothing was too much trouble. Everything to do with my stay was smoothed out by them so that I could simply enjoy my time at Blakes (thank you Andreia, Luigi). And enjoy it I did. A divine, unforgettable long lunch with a friend; fun times (and a peerless martini) in the bar; the best sleep I have had in a London hotel for years. This is a stylish home from home - it feels more like an exclusive club, a 5-star hotel that genuinely cares about your stay. The staff could not have been more helpful and wonderful, and the incredibly chic decor had me Instagramming like mad. Little wonder that I have chosen this as the place to stay on the second most important night of my life (after my wedding) - my debut book launch! Highly, highly, highly recommended.

Once quite a fashionable London hotel, this place is now a bit of a dump. Staff are very attentive and keen to assist however. If you like black paint and gold, with a sombre tone to the premises, like a 70's disco, this is the place for you. The breakfast room is freezing - carefully guarded by a closed door with a member of staff on standby to screen your entry. Our room was freezing and had to call for a floor heater Attention to detail is poor - both days at breakfast, food was served on chipped plates that were stained - really? Is the Manager asleep at the wheel? Carpet on the stairs worn thru to the threads

From start to finish the experience was fantastic. Super friendly helpful staff, with a real feeling of luxury. Would absolutely recommend if you’re looking for something special. It smells great too!

I can’t help but love it here. I just feel like James Bond and that is no exaggeration. The staff here make you feel the business, no request is too great or too small - we stayed here for 2 nights in the summer and rarely left the hotel at all. We didn’t need to! The house burger is incredible - and pasta dishes are a tasty of Italy! I will return again next year when I’ve saved my pennies.
