The Capital Hotel in London, England

The Capital Hotel, with its elegant appointments and reputation for hosting the Royal Family, is a delightful place to find yourself while in London. With a long list of accolades, including being touted among the "Best Hotels in the World" by Travel + Leisure, The Capital Hotel's envious Knightsbridge location cannot be beat. Beneath its lavish roof are just 49 rooms including a handful of suites adorned in fabrics created at the hands of Ralph Lauren and Nina Campbell, with antique furnishings thoughtfully placed. The marble baths are magnificent with invigorating showers and ample-sized tubs.

The Michelin-starred Capital Restaurant offers a selection of contemporary French cuisine coupled with a sumptuous wine list. The hotel's lovely Sitting Room offers a proper afternoon tea with all the accouterments. Step across the hotel threshold and into the center of Knightsbridge, home to Harrods and Harvey Nichols, whose food halls are filled with people and delights. We have been using the Capital for several years on our annual visits from Australia. Its small, intimate, comfortable with first class Fand B accompanied by friendly and efficient staff. The bar is delightful. All this with Harrods as the corner shop!

Excellent location, professional staff, friendly approach and highly recommend the hotel. The breakfast was delicious! Restaurant for afternoon tea and dinner is lovely. If you are looking for a reasonable hotel with a great location, that is close to all shopping, then this is the one.

First and foremost, the staff at this hotel is outstanding! They will make sure all your needs are met. The rooms are uniquely decorated, comfortable beds, air conditioning (although that can be a bit loud when trying to cool down from a rare hot day in London), nice bathrooms, and great amenities. Internet works great. Downside is the my room didn't have a chest of drawers, just smallest closets and a small built in desk where the coffee service was. It was okay as I was there for a pleasure trip and didn't need to work, but I don't think a business traveler would find that desk useful. The other thing is that the in room coffee is instant (only Nespresso in the suites), which I don't care for. Plus side is that coffee downstairs and in the restaurant is delicious. Some limited choices for breakfast, but the buffet was satisfactory for me, but lacked hot dishes. Overall, pleasant stay, great value for the price, and the Outlaw restaurant was superb!

We have just had the most wonderful experience at this hotel. The staff were superb. Graham and Clive made sure we knew where we were going and what we might want to do. The front desk staff always greeted us with charm and a smile. The staff executed several special and unexpected touches for our granddaughter and us. Breakfast was always tasty and the cocktails were super. Of course it goes without saying the room was very comfortable and clean. The location is the best. This was our second time at The Capital Hotel and there will be a third and fourth.

I strongly would like to recommend this British small luxuary hotel to anyone who wish to stay around Knightsbridge. Quite close from Harrods and it takes only a few minutes' walk from Underground Station Knightsbridge. I had not been London for over ten years so a little bit afraid to visit to after very horrible terrorist' attacks occured a little before my visit this time. But now I do recognised that such a fear was totally meaningless after experiencing an extraordinary comfortable stay at this hotel with a very pleasant warm welcome and splendid hospitality given by all the people at the hotel. First of all, upon my arrival on rainy day almost being at a loss near Harrods, a very handsome gentleman came near where I was and kindly escorted me to the hotel! I am so grateful for his gentle support. And in addition, I really would like to express my appreciation to a lovely lady at the reception who kindly helped me asking a restaurant to heat my food which I purchased at Harrods. As I traveled alone, a little tired from move from Paris, I felt like having a light dinner in my room...So her kind help was quite helpful to me, too Also, I will never forget to have very wonderfully sophisticated afternoon tea again. It's porsion was just appropriatme with my appetite, cakes were very beautifull to look and tasted very delicate and not too sweet. I really enjoyed to taste a sandwiches of cucumber on Matcha Tea Bread since I am a Japanese! Lastly, deep appreciation to all of you for your warm and kind hospitality during my stay in London. Definitely, I will return to stay at your hotel again possibly this Autum. I do miss London and all of you!
