The Capital Hotel in London, England

The Capital Hotel, with its elegant appointments and reputation for hosting the Royal Family, is a delightful place to find yourself while in London. With a long list of accolades, including being touted among the "Best Hotels in the World" by Travel + Leisure, The Capital Hotel's envious Knightsbridge location cannot be beat. Beneath its lavish roof are just 49 rooms including a handful of suites adorned in fabrics created at the hands of Ralph Lauren and Nina Campbell, with antique furnishings thoughtfully placed. The marble baths are magnificent with invigorating showers and ample-sized tubs.

The Michelin-starred Capital Restaurant offers a selection of contemporary French cuisine coupled with a sumptuous wine list. Sign up for the hotel's occasional master class, - an enrichment lesson that includes lunch, wine tasting and a culinary lesson with the chef. And what would a trip to London be without taking tea? The hotel's lovely Sitting Room offers a proper afternoon tea with all the accouterments. Step across the hotel threshold and into the center of Knightsbridge, home to Harrods and Harvey Nichols, whose food halls are filled with people and delights. Take a stroll along the River Thames or go around aboard the London Eye, the fabulous ferris wheel right on the river's edge. Everything is in reach when you stay at The Capital Hotel, including round-the-clock access to the hotel's accommodating staff.

The Capital Hotel is conveniently located near Harrods and Harvey Nichols and the many shops on Sloane Street in Knightsbridge. It is also centrally located within walking distance of the museums, the parks and the Piccadilly line. We used it as our base to take day trips near and far and found many charming restaurants from the creative seafood at Outlaw's in the Capital Hotel to Indian, Japanese and Italian cuisine in the neighborhood. What was impressive was the fine service from the hotel staff as well as the evening port served, the high tea and the nourishing breakfasts. Last, our Classic King Room was very spacious and had all the fine touches that added to the Capital's provenance. We cannot wait to visit London again for another Capital experience.

Perfect location for all the shops and Harrods. Plenty of good restaurants around. 4 minutes walk to the Piccadilly line underground.Quite street. It is marked as 5 starts hotel but it is not the typical 5 stars of brand name hotels. It is low key but pleasant. The staff are extremely nice specially the executive manageress. We stayed t the 1 bedroom apartment which is excellent for facilities such as kitchenette with hob, fridge, then there are lounge and bedroom with bathroom. The decor is old fashion but fine. For London, its a good size rooms. The bed is too hard for us for our preferences. Small TV in each room. Broadband is not fast but adequate for non business usage. Breakfast is in the Outlaw restaurant and pleasant atmosphere. Cooked breakfast is well done. Tea is made to perfection without the tea bags left in the tea pot. Decaf coffee is well made too. Continental breakfast is well stock even at 9.45am. Eat at The Outlaw restaurant in the evening. We expected more from Nathan Outlaw reputation. It is not bad just not as we expect having eaten in many Micheline stars restaurants. However, the price is reflected by being slightly more modest in comparison to other Micheline restaurants. Pleasant evening ensured by friendly staff. The bar is a very pleasant and discrete feel environment worth visiting for a drink. But for the apartment decoration style, I would have given it a 5 stars rating. Would I visit it again ? yes, if the price is on special offer against other 5 stars hotel rates.

Excellent Hotel in a great location right in the centre of Knightsbridge. Immaculately clean establishment, staffed by a posse of polite, ever helpful people who are always eager to assist. Nice snug lounge in which to imbibe both pre and post dinner, excellent breakfasts to start the day. And having the kudos of Nathan Outlaw's Michelin starred (and fabulous) restaurant on the premises is the clincher. As a foot note and mentioned in a previous review, the owner's could improve the guest experience still further by providing tea/coffee making facilities in the bedrooms. Did we enjoy our visit and would we return to the Capital Hotel again ? Yes, on both counts.

The Capital Hotel was one of the first 'boutique' hotels in London. It is small (40 rooms), superbly located (next to Harrods), the staff are excellent, so friendly and helpful, and the restaurant (Nathan Outlaw) whilst expensive is exceptionally good. A bonus is that even as a small hotel it has its own car park, and whilst parking is not cheap (Ā£40 per day) for us it was actually cheaper than the train, and comparable with other parking solutions in the area (if, no when, we come again we will again use the parking). Our car was carefully parked by the friendly concierge, and we could see our car from our room window (which was reassuring). Being a long standing boutique hotel there are a very few minor updates needed, but nothing serious. Having noticed there were no tea making facilities (and after a journey I desperately need tea!!!) and mentioning this to the staff, very quickly a kettle, mugs and a variety of teas and coffees appeared in our room (at no charge). Next time we need to stay in central London The Capital could well be our hotel of choice. This time we chose it for my 70th birthday meal with my wife, son and partner as we wanted to eat in Nathan Outlaw's restaurant, enjoy plenty of wine and not worry about driving. It was an excellent choice!

We got a great deal from Voyage Prive to stay here for three nights (without this the hotel would probably not have been on our radar). I wondered if we would get an inferior room or service as we had not paid the full rack rate but this did not seem to be the case here at all. The reception and concierge staff were all smiley and extremely efficient. The one problem we had was rectified swiftly with a room change. The rooms were quiet and we heard no noise from other guests either from adjoining rooms or above. The air conditioning in the rooms was rather loud, however. Breakfast was delicious (apart from the scrambled egg which was consistently wet and soggy and not light and fluffy, which even I can achieve) with plenty of options considering the size of the hotel. We particularly liked the dining room which was elegant and conducive to having a relaxing start to the day. We would definitely stay again should the chance arise. Lunch at Outlaws was a highlight.
