The Capital Hotel, with its elegant appointments and reputation for hosting the Royal Family, is a delightful place to find yourself while in London. With a long list of accolades, including being touted among the "Best Hotels in the World" by Travel + Leisure, The Capital Hotel's envious Knightsbridge location cannot be beat. Beneath its lavish roof are just 49 rooms including a handful of suites adorned in fabrics created at the hands of Ralph Lauren and Nina Campbell, with antique furnishings thoughtfully placed. The marble baths are magnificent with invigorating showers and ample-sized tubs.

The best part of this hotel is the location, but unfortunately that’s where the positives end. We arrived on Friday, checked in, and at first glance the room looked fine. After being out most of the day, we came back to freshen up and that’s when the problems became obvious. The shower was far too low—around six inches too low for me, and I’m 6ft tall. The bath was tiny, and the shower leaked water everywhere. On closer inspection, the overall workmanship in the room was poor: wallpaper peeling off the walls and around the doors, and fixtures that looked cheaply or carelessly installed. For the price of the room, this was nowhere near what we expected. Breakfast was another disappointment. We had to look around for staff just to place an order, and even then items were forgotten. We had to get up to ask for more hot drinks, despite being the only guests in the room. The staff seemed more interested in chatting in the back than serving. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a true 5‑star experience. There are much better options for the same price.

This boutique luxe hotel has one of the best teams I ever encountered while travelling; I always stay in very good hotels but not always we find a team that is always prompt to help with such a smile and good vibe. I spent almost the whole month at this hotel, in a such cosy and well decorated apartment, and they always provided what I need for maximum comfort. This hotel is all about detail and making guests feeling home. Miguel and Paulo were so so helpful and professional! One of the days I had a tendinitis and a lot of pain on my hand and they promptly called a Doctor and on the next day, after proper medication, I was well again. They provided breakfast to my mum and my husband which was at high standard; the gentleman from Peru, I think Esteben, is such a kind and genuine person. John the manager very flexible for long stay's arrangement! I thought would be difficult one month away but at this hotel, was such a pleasure! I highly recommend and will defenitely return! Location is also convenient, central and perfect for singles, couples or families.

A wonderful time, as always. Wanted to highlight the concierge, Miguel. He was always helpful and I really appreciated his going the extra bit for us.
