The Capital Hotel, with its elegant appointments and reputation for hosting the Royal Family, is a delightful place to find yourself while in London. With a long list of accolades, including being touted among the "Best Hotels in the World" by Travel + Leisure, The Capital Hotel's envious Knightsbridge location cannot be beat. Beneath its lavish roof are just 49 rooms including a handful of suites adorned in fabrics created at the hands of Ralph Lauren and Nina Campbell, with antique furnishings thoughtfully placed. The hotel's lovely Sitting Room offers a proper afternoon tea with all the accouterments. Step across the hotel threshold and into the center of Knightsbridge, home to Harrods and Harvey Nichols, whose food halls are filled with people and delights. My wife and I had a last minute trip to London and we needed to be in the Knightsbridge area. While I had never stayed at The Capital Hotel, the location was perfect and so we booked for three nights. Everything about our stay was above our expectation. The property is classic English and very well maintained and the entire staff was just terrific. Everyone knew our names upon arrival and made us feel as if we were all old friends. I can highly recommend The Capital Hotel and will look there first on our next trip to London

We have just enjoyed an enjoyable 2 night Gourmet break at The Capital Hotel. Firstly, many thanks to Lorena for her help from start to finish with all of the arrangements for this trip as it was a birthday present for my other half. We were also amazed to receive a complimentary bottle of Champagne delivered to our room. The staff were all friendly, although on our first morning we were ignored by the breakfast staff as we waited to be seated, and felt very uncomfortable. However, we put this down to them being very busy. Our room was cosy and the bed comfy with amazingly soft feather pillows. There was slight confusion over the tea/coffee tray that was brought to the room, as the guy from housekeeping gave us capsules for a Nespresso machine instead of coffee sachets. When we noticed this and rang through to ask for coffee sachets, stating that we did not have a coffee machine, we were spoken to as if we were idiots and told to 'dissolve' them! Even we are not that stupid so eventually managed to get some Nescafé sachets to use! Perhaps it was a language barrier problem. We also found the previous occupants left over food and drink in the fridge but this was quickly removed when we advised housekeeping of this. We were also surprised to not have a mini bar in the room, although this was not a major problem as we enjoyed Cocktails and nibbles in the cosy bar downstairs on both nights. On our second night we enjoyed a fabulous tasting menu at Nathan Outlaws. Again the staff were great and very knowledgable on both the food and wine that was served. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, as other reviewers have stated, you cannot fault the location. It's really nice to stay somewhere that feels small and intimate and not corporate. We certainly hope to stay again when we come up to London in the future, and would not hesitate in recommending this Hotel to our family and friends.

This hotel is very well located by Harrods, close to a tube station and many attractions within walk distance. I stayed in a junior suite so the room is larger than the standard rooms. Comfortable room has the best bed I have ever slept in hotels. However a few points of attention come to my mind like the poor breakfast that even being free on its buffet version is worst than others also free I had in cheaper hotels in London. Breakfast service lousy. Reception staff full of smiles but talking like a robot following a formal script. Perhaps a little relaxed posture may help, like the 3 concierges I met: wonderful guys, very helpful, happy, collaborative and always ready to break the script to help the customer. Bottomline: if you have business in the area, good. Otherwise, take a second look.

3 of us went for a whisky tasting with the lead bar person, Cesar. He was amazing. We tasted 6 whiskeys with and without an "e" in the word. Cesar spent about an hour and a half with us explaining the differences and how they are made including comparing Scotland, Ireland, Japan and the US. Cesar is the real deal. Thoroughly knowledgeable about wine, whiskeys and cocktails. He has a well deserved reputation. What was so great was that he was patient and wanted us to learn. If you do the whiskey tasting, I suggest you do one with more than 3 and have the cheese. It is integral to the tasting and not a snack as I naively thought! After the tasting stay and have a drink, maybe a whisky you really liked or even a cocktail. You will not be disappointed. The entire staff are consummate professionals and the ambiance couldn't be better.
