The Capital Hotel in London, England

The Capital Hotel, with its elegant appointments and reputation for hosting the Royal Family, is a delightful place to find yourself while in London. With a long list of accolades, including being touted among the "Best Hotels in the World" by Travel + Leisure, The Capital Hotel's envious Knightsbridge location cannot be beat. Beneath its lavish roof are just 49 rooms including a handful of suites adorned in fabrics created at the hands of Ralph Lauren and Nina Campbell, with antique furnishings thoughtfully placed. The marble baths are magnificent with invigorating showers and ample-sized tubs.

The Michelin-starred Capital Restaurant offers a selection of contemporary French cuisine coupled with a sumptuous wine list. Sign up for the hotel's occasional master class, - an enrichment lesson that includes lunch, wine tasting and a culinary lesson with the chef. And what would a trip to London be without taking tea? The hotel's lovely Sitting Room offers a proper afternoon tea with all the accouterments. Step across the hotel threshold and into the center of Knightsbridge, home to Harrods and Harvey Nichols, whose food halls are filled with people and delights. Take a stroll along the River Thames or go around aboard the London Eye, the fabulous ferris wheel right on the river's edge. Everything is in reach when you stay at The Capital Hotel, including round-the-clock access to the hotel's accommodating staff.

It’s lovely when you arrive at The Capital and walk into Reception, which is so welcoming it means you can start to relax straightaway as you know you are going to be taking good care of. We were greeted by Lorena, who on hearing we were there to celebrate my birthday immediately asked if we liked champagne and arranged to have a bottle sent up to our room for us to enjoy at our leisure! It was a lovely touch to the start of another wonderful stay . Thank you again Lorena for all that you did to make our stay special, from the champagne to “your shopping” for Almond milk, gluten-free cereal and brown bread for my breakfasts - very much appreciated as always. These are the touches that make The Capital special, so that we wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else when we go to London. We stayed in a beautiful Junior suite which could now be our new favourite room. The food was as good as always and the service impeccable, all the staff are so lovely from housekeeping to the manager. Will be back soon, many thanks again to Lorena and her superb team !

Friendly warm and comfortable Hotel with bags of character. Stylish bar and the renowned "Outlaws" restaurant (brilliant for breakfast) Fastest room service in the world. All staff really keen to make your stay perfect. A pitching wedge from Harrods. Ideal for exploring this bustling part of London that will offer you a charming cosy retreat. Rooms as you would expect for a traditional "boutique" Hotel so more character than space but worked well for our weekend break. Independently owned so staff have a real rapport with what seem to be regular guests.

It was great to be back at our Hotel and in our room again (but I expect every regular guest must think this) where we are not only treated as important guests, (along with everyone else) but also friends by the staff. Everyone from front desk, consierge, bar / restaurant staff and house keeping are superb. I've read other excellent reviews who comment on the decor needing updating, but apart from the lift that is well used and takes a lot of traffic everything else is spotless. We've seen our regular room upgraded and modernised over the years, and the only thing I can mention is that the water pressure is a bit low out of the taps on the 4th floor. We have always visited and the beginning and at the end of the year, but we will try our best to come back in the Summer and see the places that Graham suggested that would need warmer weather to appreciate them. Thanks again and we'll be back soon.

Our stay here was wonderful. Location in walking distance of all shopping, pubs, underground, buses and major attractions of London. The rooms very spacious, clean and well decorated. The service, could not fault in fact too many staff, that’s not s bad thing either. We only had one meal, a great chef, limited menu but very tasty and well priced for the area. The service again we could not fault. The wine fabulous. My only criticism is that the cleaning staff every morning forgot to renew milk and tea bags and on our arrival home it was an inconvenience. Saying that every night, arriving home, a full glass of cherry at reception as you walked in from the cold. Would I go back, yes we would.

Location spot on - minutes walk away from Hyde Park for a morning walk / jog and coffee. Harrods just down the road as is Knightsbridge Station - London underground the way to travel ... so easy. Staff at the Capital Hotel are great. Concierge are informative and good for a chat. Grab the afternoon sherry and relax at the end of the day. Room well presented and always in mint condition. Location, people, value for money ... spot on.
